re: ADD dx in kindergarten?

Aiden is really bright too. When we can hold his attention long enough he does really well with certain things, but that doesn't last long... Now he's just not learning the new stuff because he's always in his own world.

It was very hard... after they kicked him out I had him put on the meds and after 1 month at that school he was having 2 big outbursts a week, since oct, he's had maybe 3 incidents, that were not as bad as what he was doing over there...

I had a breakdown, after, the school called cps on me, so I as being investigated for 2 months... it was a mess... at least u have the appt. We did all of that last september, and the meds were given beg of october, he has been doing very well since...

He's been on a vitamin regimen for about 2 years now because he's such a picky eater. I'll look into getting him some that include omega 3. Thank you.

I really don't want my son held back either but if it's for the best I will be ok with it. I'm hoping that he doesn't need meds. When we had the meeting about him possibly being add I broke down it was so hard for me. What all does your son know?

I felt like that at first too. His teacher constantly reminds me that she is not bothered by it and only wants him to succeed, she tries to help him as much as possible. Her son and husband both have ADD so she said she understands how I feel. I'm so glad he has a teacher like her, I'd feel so lost if he didn't.

Exactly what u just said, about him being bright if he has the attention for it!! That is in deans 504 plan lol,
The principal and teacher both said that, after the school pshyc. Spent an hour with him on a good day, she was blown away...
Then to see some work he had done in class to be like   wth

They had to give him an entrance exam at the 1st private school he scored around 1st grade level in middle of kinder is when we started registration for that school, his 1st week of 1st grade, she said he wasn't even able to spell his last name... I knew there was a huge problem that was getting worse he's been writing his name since 3 1/
2... u don't forget that stuff, now he's in middle of 1st grade and scoring begining of 2nd grade which is good for him...

Oh wow! I'm so sorry.   Aiden has had a couple of times that he freaked out too. Once he ran up on stage during lunch time and wouldn't come out from behind the curtains. Another time he took his shirt and shoes off and just ran around in circles in the bathroom.

That's Dean   he would fall out of his seat and roll from 1 side of the classroom to the other... in the middle of class...

He knows his letters and their sounds, he can count to 100. He loves math, so he doesn't have as many issues there but he does still struggle, just not as bad as in other areas. He's behind with putting together sounds for words, or breaking up the words and rhyming words. His teacher printed out a sheet of everything he needs to know and gave me copies of all the sheets they use in class. I was trying to work with him on it but he just fidgets and started making noises. He tugs at his ear a LOT, everyone always asks if he has an ear infection. lol.

That's awesome! I hope we can find something to help our son too. Whether it be medicine or dietary changes, we just want what is best for him. I don't want him to dislike school, his eyes used to light up every morning. Now he's whatever about it.

my husband is a libra too and he was offfff the wall! as is our nephew who is 5 and got kicked out of kindergarden last year! for not listening , or doing his own thing, and seeking attention they said, and everytime he comes over my lil one gets so riled up around him bc he is so hyper, cant focus on one thing for too long, is pretty loud too.

i agree with the dietary changes. i know you said meds is the last resort, but really, really try, for a good year at least before you resort to meds.

Yeah, that's how dean got, I hope u find something that works for him, he's not even on and sugars we eat all organic stuff besides the ocasional junkfood day which I want and deserve more then they do lol, we do behaviour charts and logs, happy faces, rewards, every week we do a play date and take his friend from school to chuckie cheese or disneyland, or my exs mma gym, they love that idk y?? if he's had more good days than bad, its a constant battle, and I win or lose some, but were ok!!
