Car seat bracing

posted 23rd Jan
I just bought a new car and was reading over the manual and can't find anything saying if it's ok or not to brace a rear facing car seat with the front seat. Anyone know where else I can find this info?

The car seat is a Diono Radian RXT and the car is a 2010 Chevy Traverse LT.

Thanks!

You should check in Carseats For The Littles on Facebook!! My G6 allowed it and that is also a GM so I'm thinking it's probably allowed but I'd ask in there!

Thanks! I just did a bit more google research and looks like it depends on the type of airbag sensors that are used in the front seats. Maybe the FB page will clarify   I really hope it can!

I was going to post my question, but then all the sudden the wall blew up with a ton of new posts lol. I'm thinking they will probably tell me to call GM and ask them. I also didn't see anywhere in the manual that says the max weight limit for the LATCH system.. unless that would be in Diono's manual, but I don't recall seeing it there either. Ughhhh

No clue on that seat, but we just got the Size 4 Me and flipped Chris back to rear facing and we're so glad we did. I feel better about not forward facing him anymore.

On a side note, our manual says if you can slip a paper between the seats, it's okay. No clue what yours says.

Do you like it? I've been seeing it recently and it seems pretty nice   Our car manual says absolutely nothing about it. I've double checked the Seat and Restraint, Child Restraints, and the Air Bag section. I'm going to have to call GM's customer service and see if they can answer my questions.

Oh, but I found Diono has an Angle Adjuster, and it looks like it will solve our issues   It's suppose to add up to 4 inches of extra space.

It should make it so we won't need to brace:

We LOVE our new seat! I liked Graco so sticking with that brand and rear facing him made me happy.

And yay to something that might make it a bit easier to fit in the car. Only thing I hate about rear facing is finding space for the seats. I have a Toyota Highlander that I got back in June and while I love the car, it isn't car seat friendly AT ALL.

Yay for RF again!

The Traverse we just bought seems massive, yet I feel like the Radian fit better in our Scion xB. It may be the way the seats slant though. IDK, I'm just hoping this AA really works, otherwise I don't know what to do. I don't think we can brace because of the airbag sensors that are in the front seats.
