and no, I wouldn't get married just to get divorced. that's rather stupid, and costly.

I didn't think anyone still called it that. Unless there's something in the original divorce decree or custody arrangement that says neither parent can cohabitate with someone else, the courts don't really care, unless the parent's new relationship somehow puts the child in danger.

If you're trying to move out of state, it really shouldn't matter much if you're married beforehand or not. If you are moving for a better job(and can prove you've already been offered said job), then being in another relationship won't matter. If you are moving solely to be with the new relationship, then getting engaged first might help, even if you're not married at that point yet.

Is there a reason he can't be the one to relocate?
