Red under nose from cold

posted 23rd Jan
Everytime my daughter gets a cold, her skin gets red and irritated under her nose. Probably from wiping herself too much/too hard. She goes to daycare so obviously I can't help it when she's there. I tell the teachers to put vaseline on and I dab it on constantly when we're home, but it doesn't seem to be working as well lately. Is there something else I can try that is more effective?

You mean dry her nose out? I'm not sure, is there something you suggest? She's 3 almost 4

I put Burt's Bee's under my son's nose. It stings a little, but it clears it up faster than anything else I've tried.

yeah, dry her nose out!

I don't know, maybe Claritin or Allegra, or plain ol' Benadryl. I would only suggest it for days when it's really runny.

Hmm I have regular chapstick. I wonder if that might do the trick.

It's not very runny today anymore. But of course the redness is still there and it looks horrible..and painful!

ahh, poor girl

Yeah, chapstick or vaseline and stuff like that is probably your best bet. Hope she feels better soon.

I know   she definitely goes overboard on the wiping and I can't do anything about it when she's at daycare. Thank you for your help!

my LO had it really bad one time, and the doctor said cortizone, it was the only thing that worked. If you can, try getting the prescription strength. And if her nose is still running, some benedryl at night will help too =)

Thank you! Actually last night she broke out in hives due to an antibiotic she had been taking. Took her to the doctor and she prescribed her a cream for under her nose and benadryl for the hives
