Quoting melindapple:" I buy the bags of chicken breasts that have the resealable zip type thing so when I need some I just ... [snip!] ... is I don't have any of the size I normally use (just sandwich bags, which are too small). How else can I thaw them? TIA!"My grandmother used to toss them in salt water overnight. She did that for the flavor but it also defrosted them.

Quoting MommyToWesley:" Do you have a defrost option on your microwave? Or you could run them under hot water- this will cook them a little bit, though, so you'll have to adjust your cook time by a couple minutes."
Quoting Commander Shepard:" Throw them in a bowl of cold water in the sink with the faucet trickling over it. That's what I do."

The microwave is nice if your in a hurry but you can just submerge them in cold water and change the water every 30 mins. I had to do this with a holiday turkey. Thawed out a 10+lb turkey in 3 hours with the cold water.

Quoting melindapple:" Yes I have a defrost option on my microwave, but what do I do? Just put them on a plate or something? Normally after putting them in the ziplock bags I set them in water in my sink. "
Quoting MommyToWesley:" Hmm I never knew that. Any reason why? I've only done it once, because I completely forgot to thaw them in the fridge overnight, and I didn't have enough time to put them in cold water."
Quoting someonesangel:" Bacteria can grow on the warm parts. Its just not safe or worth the risk."
