food after dinner

posted 23rd Jan
My 4.5 year old drives me NUTS with this crap...

I'm working on dinner right now, and he keeps complaining about being hungry.
I said well dinner will be done... then he says " okay then you can make me something after dinner"
NO that's NOT the point of dinner... You should eat enough to be effin DONE and FULL.

*head desk*

He does this every damn day... it just... makes me so angry.

Even when we eat our dinner, he picks at it and then he says he's full.
the second I clean up he says okay now you can make me a sandwich... NO eat your DINNER.
I have never given any exceptions so WHY does he seem to think that he will get one?!

Oh yeah - we have had similar issues before. I usually just stick it in a container or put some plastic wrap on it and serve it to them for the next meal until they eat it. After doing that a few times they got over it. I don't play the "making sperate meals" game, I don't force them eat things they don't like so there's no excuse. Either you eat and your hungry or you don't and you will eat it for the next meal - I don't throw away food.

My kids have been doing the same thing (they are 4 & 5) it is so irritating! It's not just dinner either, today my 5 year old came home from school and ate a snack, then wanted a pot pie for lunch (claimed she was full), then she wanted a piece of bread, then carrots- she is telling me she is STILL hungry, and of course when it's dinner time she will eat only pieces, tell me she's full and 10 minutes later ask for something else.. it is getting redic. I don't know what to do.

I do the same thing, but he is just getting on my last nerve with it today. I don't cook nasty smurfing food.
If it's something I know not all kids are going to like... I do make the kids their own special meal and Billy and I eat that dinner. Like if I make stuffed port mushrooms with spinach and smurf.... no kid wants to devour that smurf so I make them spaghetti or something else.

I made a crap ton of chicken bites. ( like popcorn chicken)
Like 5 freezer bags full, so that is ALL he ever wants to eat and that just isn't happening.

they probably have because they are smurfing morons.
you know the 900 menu's I send with Max and "instructions for him"... all the food he WILL eat and likes...

but he rarely goes there... sooo I don't know why he would resort to that.
and he eats dinner there like one night a month if that.

Oh yeah - totally within reason, lol. There are times when i want something I know they won't eat so I don't bother, so I make something they like - I just meant in general. I know how you feel, though, it's frustrating - but it will get better! Just stand your ground eventually it will get through. I'm sorry!
