Shoudld I get Fixed?!?!

posted 23rd Jan
I got pregnant with my daughter at 16 and I'm 20 and pregnant with my second and my husband and I are deff for sure we're done. Do you think its to early to get my tubes tied? My doctor said she would do the surgery for me as soon as I turned 21 if that's what I really wanted. I wanted to get other opinions before I get it done!!

Personally, I wouldn't. You're still very young and may change your mind in the future.

Why not a long term BC or something? You always have the option to have your tubes tied down the road. I think it'd be smart to at least give it a few years and make sure you're done.

agreed. and, not trying to be a debbie downer or imply your marriage isn't solid, but, if anything were to happen and you got remarried, you might want kids with someone else. never know.

Personally I wouldn't just yet. I'd look into a long term bc first then give myself a few year to think about it

I wouldn't. Opinions change. Long term birth control. I'm 28 and my husband is 30 and still don't want either to have anything permanent done yet. We are doing a long term birth control and then revisiting the topic in 3 years.

I wouldn't. I am 26 and about to have my first one. I am really sure I don't want another one but refuse to entertain the idea of getting fix. My sister has 3, she never wanted that many. She got fix after her 3rd. Now she says it was the worse mistake ever. She doesn't want another baby right now but the knowledge of knowing she can't have more is hard for her.

Plus her friend had four kid, got fixed, and then lost her youngest to SIDS. She would do anything to be able to have another baby.

But each person is different. My eldest sister is still glad she had it done. She also has three kids.

I wouldnt! I am 21 and my husband and i have 20 month old and are expecting baby number 2 in June!
My husband is set on only having too kids and im pretty sure i dont want more but neither of us would do anything to make it so we permanently cant have more. Things change.

I personally think you're really young to make such a permanent decision. People and situations change and you never know what the future holds, I wouldn't want a choice I make when I'm 20 to dictate so much abou the rest of my life. There is no guarantee that your marriage will last forever, and you Mmay end up with someone in the future that you want to have children with. Or your husband could Pass away... There are so many variables. I wouldn't do something so permanent so young. Hell I'm 26 and my husband is 29 and this is out third and we aren't. En considering the permanent stuff yet. Were pretty sure were done but we've already changed our minds about that once, it could happen again.

Why not look into the long term birth control options and revisit the topic a few years down the line.

My husband and I are very confident about our marriage working. we go to church and believe that when we got married we became one flesh and that's how we will stay till either one of us passes away. My husband is 27 and he only wants 2 kids and so do I and With the economy the way it is it almost impossible raising any more then 2. we both have jobs but things for the girls can get pretty expensive. I've also had so many problems with this pregnancy so far I don't think ill be able to handle another pregnancy. there's been nights that I laid in bed and cried my eyes out because I couldn't get comfortable or my legs lock up on me at work and I couldn't walk or sit because my legs wont bend, and I've had back pain so bad I was told by my doctor that I could end up in a wheel chair till I delivered. I'm so scared I'll go through this again if I do get pregnant again and I honestly don't know If I will be able to handle it again.

At the same time you are ONLY 20. The human brain doesn't mature till 25. Docs here are refusing to do them till at least that age because of the change that can occur.

This!

I am 25. I had my youngest when I was 24. I have been thinking about getting my tubes tied for a WHILE now. I have made the choice to hold off on it. I am 25. And by the time you are my age you might want more.

And it would be a lot safer for him to get snipped.. and that can be reversed with positive out come.
