Visatril (C SECTION)

Has anyone been given Visatril (For anxiety) intraveniously right before their c section? What were the effects if so? Did it help?


I had a bad spinal experience - I had to be stuck about 6 times and it was super painful, so I do have anxiety when it comes to the spianl. I spoke to my Dr who said he could give me anti anxiety visatril to calm me down. Looking for some info and personal experiences on it, google didn't help much.  

I've never had it in an IV..only by mouth (for anxiety) it works pretty well for that. They amount they give you through IV will probably be stronger, and will def. hit you faster. I think it will probably help  

Idk what it was called but I got something for anxiety in my IV and it made me laughy. Lol.

The only part of my spinal I hated was when the anesthesiologist liked rubbed my hips up on each side to make me sit up straighter. I cried. Oh, and how cold it was in the OR.

Omg yes!!! The cold was terrible!! lol

I used to have prescriptions for Vistaril (pill form) because of hives. I had hives all of the time, no cause. If you're not used to it, it'll knock you out.
My mom gets what she calls "vistaril hangovers" from them so she cuts her mg in half. It makes her so drowsy that she's so groggy and can barely function the next day.

Haha it works pretty fast too. 15-30 minutes. It'll make you feel out of it. Almost drunk. Lol. I've had IV vistaril once before when I went to the ER with hives all over, and IV Benadryl. Made me calm down a lot and got me pretty tired.

omg that's great lol. I need to be relaxed - that spinal is no joke lol.

I dind't know you could use it for hives too...that's terrible...my son gets hives with strep throat - which this yr has been good but previous yrs he used to get ALOT...and he's allergic to penecillian - so his fool of a dr gives him a generic amoxicillian. -_- My poor baby had the WORST case of hives I have ever seen it was so bad...took them like 2 weeks to figure out it was caused by their idiotic mistake...smh

Yeah, it helps when you have an allergic reaction, rash, hives etc. Stops the itching.
