Lap band?

Anyone have it done? How do you feel about it and the results? Anyone do it and continue breastfeeding?

I have it.
If I had it to do over again I would get the gastric sleeve.
Lap Band doesn't effect breastfeeding.

I had the Gastric Sleeve done. It does not effect BF and I love that I got the surgery! I lost over 90lbs. I couldn't get over the fact that they would have to give me shots in my stomach to do the fills for the lap band and I did not want something foreign in my body. I got pregnant almost 9 months after I had it and I had already lost the 90lbs. I lost all but 5 lbs after my son was born and then found out I was pregnant again. My son is 7 months.   Apparently the fluctuations in hormones from losing weight so quickly makes you super fertile! Haha! I wouldn't change getting mine. It takes dedication, though.

I thought about the sleeve and the needle freaks me out a bit but I like that the lap band can be reversed. I'm just not thrilled about the though that food can get stuck. That grosses me out lol.

Food can get stuck with the lap band as well. My mom has the lap band. She had the same restrictions that I do. You still aren't supposed to eat pasta or white bread. Basically the hole is still the same. You just have something foreign in your body that makes the hole that way with lap band. If you have the lap band, you still run the risk of getting food stuck. This is why I say it takes discipline. You have to watch what you eat. But, it's personal preference.

I have a lap band.... honestly. between me and the 5 other women who got it done around the same time as me, it is NOT worth it. it helps a little but over time it becomes less affective, and u still end up gaining or not losing enough...

My mom is going through that same thing. It's been almost 3 years and she still does fills from time to time and if she doesn't, she starts putting her weight back on. If she does it, she actually stays the same.

exactly! i stay around 195- 205 most of the time... if i fill, i fall to 185 and nothing more. even with exersize eating right everything.... im sad that i couldnt lose more but i mean... i guess it happens

That's why I love my sleeve. I weighed 240lbs. I dropped to 153. That's what I weighed when I was 9 weeks preggo with my son.   I'm also 5'8". I loved that I dropped 90lbs so fast. It really hasn't been hard to keep off with the sleeve. I exercise and try to eat right. I haven't had a soda for 2 years!!! OMG! Lol.

I've seen an acquaintance who had the lapband go from 300lbs to 120lbs with the lapband and its been 3 years and has kept it off. I'm hoping I have that result. I need that extra help and push. It's been tough and after 3 pregnancies I have put on so much weight. I've started the whole clearance proceess which I can't believe takes so long lol.

i actually wish that i had gotten the sleeve but my mom was pushing for a less invasive surgery so i did the band. now im not big enough for another surgery but i seriously am not happy with my band anymore =(

I have the band, and at this point (5 years later) I'm not really happy with it. I am really struggling to get the weight off right now. I lost a good bit of weight, then I got pregnant and they opened up my band. Since I had my son, I haven't gotten the weight back off. In the long term, I don't see a huge success rate.
