Gallbladder

If someone is experiencing a gallbladder attack is it ok to wait a week before seeing a doctor? Will any imminent damage occure or is it just a matter of contending with the pain while waiting?

Probably not a good idea to wait. If you have stones, and there are a lot of them, they could cause damage. You can get one stuck in the bile duct and suffer from it. If it's not your first attack, though, and you KNOW the doc won't do anything, it's your call.

It's not my first experience with this pain but I've never seen a doc about it. I've been feeling the pain in my right upper abdomen off and on since April but it was always random and short lived so I never mentioned anything. Then last July I had a major hemorrhage following a surgery and they found I have a clotting disorder, in an effort to find the reason for the clotting disorder they did an abdominal ultrasound 3 weeks ago and my appt with my internest to find out the results is the 28th. But I had noticed that over the last two months the pain had been becoming more frequent and then during that u/s the tech spent a great deal of time looking at the exact spot that I'm getting the pain. Shortly after that my regular doc wants me to come in and discuss my u/s results (so now I know they found something) but I said no since I was having an appt with my internist on the 28th. Of course since then the pain is getting a lot worse and now it hurts in my shoulder when I breath and I have this terrible headache that won't go away. I looked it up and everything I'm feeling seems to fit, I just know I won't get into either doc before monday which only leaves me with the ER and I'd like to avoid that if it's safe to wait.

So you don't actually know for sure that it's your gallbladder? Even if the symptoms all fit, it might not be your gallbladder. My symptoms DIDN'T fit gallbladder issues. I know you don't want to go to the ER, but if this pain is getting worse and more frequent, you might want to go in.

Ya, I don't really know at all, maybe ill go in tonight when my husband gets home from work. I just hate waiting 8 hours to have them say suck it hunny and wait to see your doc
