I am at a loss......

I started working part time in August to get out of the house, it includes a couple 4 hour shifts at night and a couple weekends a month. My hubby HATES me working but I feel like it does good for me to make my own money and get out of the house......he really wants me to quit   I feel like I should give in to save the fights between us but at the same time I like my independence! What would you do?

It depends on the reason he wants you to quit. Is it because he can't handle the kids?

If you like working, then work. I wouldn't let a man tell me i couldn't work, that would make me feel like he's trying to overpower me and trying to make me have to rely on him... not happening... if its not affecting anything at home aside from yall fightin.. he can get over it.

Nothing wrong with wanting to get out of the house. Everyone needs it so defiantly don't give that up because of your hubby. A lot of old fashioned guys don't like their wives/gfs working because they like knowing they provide for them, it goes way back. It can also be linked to a sense of control. But in the end its 2013 and women work, make their own money, and go do their own stuff. Just let him know it makes you happy. I know I go nuts if I don't get out once in a while, I wouldn't give it up.

He doesn't like me being gone, I know he can't handle the kids as much as he says he can but he says he misses me.....He has never been a control freak but I feel like this is a way to control me maybe because of my past relationship that it is stuck in my mind

I'm having a similar issue... my husband doesn't like the thought of me working because we both were raised in homes where both parents worked and were hardly home so he wants me to be able to stay home and raise the kids while he works and while i'm ok with that I do admit that I miss work, but my reasoning is because I practically raised my nieces from birth to 3-4 years old because my sister was a single mom at the time and couldn't afford a daycare and my brother was always working while my ex SIL partied and both of my nieces have called me mom before and my oldest asked if I could be her mom instead of my sister and it broke my heart

My husband is the same way. But the job I had he felt like it wasn't worth the stress vs. money I was bringing in. Which he was correct. It's so hard not to feel controlled and resentful!
I personally ended up quitting because it just wasn't worth it. Although when we get back from our vacation I plan on going back to work at a different job. Maybe sit down with him and tell him your feelings and then plan out family date nights and date nights with him so he'll feel like you're spending more time with him.
