How long after delivery?

How long after a vaginal delivery are you supposed to refrain from driving? My son goes to preschool 3 days a week and I have no one else to take/pick him up.

I was driving a couple days later. I was told it was fine as long as I wasn't dizzy or bleeding lots. I wasn't given pain meds (didn't need them), but if you're on those I would assume you'd need to be off those as well.

I don't think there's any limit on driving after a vaginal birth.

Hope so. The thought of SO driving me and my newborn home after going through the pain of childbirth scares me. I think I'd call a cab first with his driving record here lately

Ok thanks. I thought I remembered reading something in my packet I got from the hospital after having my daughter that you weren't supposed to drive for a week. Maybe that was for something totally different lol.

I mean... I'm sure it's great if you can avoid it just for the discomfort... but I don't think it's dangerous, per se.

Yeah, maybe it said try to avoid driving. I'm not sure. Either way I guess I don't really have an option.

Your weakend stomach muscles after giving birth can effect your braking/reaction time. You will also have sporadic contraction for a few days after giving birth as your uterus shrinks back to its original size. Another reason is because loading and unloading an infant carrier carseat isnt an activity you should engage in right after giving birth.

My dr made me wait two weeks but that was because I was anemic when I left the hospital and that made me a passing out risk. But if you feel fine and are not on pain medication I think it would be fine. Just listen to your body momma
