Contractions

posted 23rd Jan
Last night I believe I was having real contractions. They were slightly painful and started from my vaginal area and move upward. My back did hurt the whole time however they didn't seem to be radiating from my back. My stomach would tighten and then soften after a few moments. They were coming back to back however because they weren't extremely painful I didn't see the need to go to the hospital. They started around 10 pm and I tried sleeping through them but I kept waking up. Finally around 3:30 am they eased up and went away completely. I did have an appointment yesterday and she said I had not progressed any. I am still dilated at 3 and about 80% effaced.

What do you think? Real contractions or BH?

How far apart were they? Real contractions tend to be timeable and consistent. BH will be more sporadic. Like a couple will be 5 min apart then 7 min then 8 then stop etc. for example.

If they are painful then they are real contractions and not BH.

BH can be slightly painful but not real bad, more uncomfortable. The real thing wont stop and will increase in intensity and be consistent. Walk around a lot and drink plenty of water. If they start back up lay down for about an hour, if they stop again its BH.

I did get up and walk around and they didn't stop which was another reason I believed them to be real. And I was not keeping track of them because they were not that painful, mostly uncomfortable.

they could be very early real contractions, just keep walking (this helps them become regular) and when do try to keep track of them because some woman have contractions all the way through labor that are not real painful. when the become 5 to 7 min apart lasting more than 1 minute for over an hour call your doctor.
*Good luck- I hope you get to meet you little girl very soon*** keep us updated.
