Paragard

posted 22nd Jan
Has anyone had any issues with paragard? I have had it for almost a year now and my periods have been about every 5-6 weeks and lasted almost a week each time. I would bleed heavier than before I had it inserted, almost to the point where I would have to change tampons at least every hour. I have also cramped with my periods, where as I never did before. Now for the last 2 and a half weeks I have been bleeding off and on. I'm not really sure what it is or anything. It will be really heavy one day and then just spotting the next, or not even there for a day or two then really heavy again. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm thinking of going to get checked out and possibly just have it taken out.

I've had mine for 3 months now, through 3 periods, and similar results. Every 5 weeks and lasts about a week. The first period after I had it was verrry long, like 15 days. But since then they've only been a week long. Cramping is bad but I was prescribed 800mg ibuprofen when I had it inserted, got 90 pills and after 3 periods I've barely finished the first bottle. They work great, I'm sure if you just took 2 OTC 400 mg ibuprofen it should be the same.

YES! I have had bleeding issues since I got it back in September so I am getting it removed in 2 weeks(earliest they could get me in even though I made the appointment 2 weeks ago). I do not want to spend the next 10 years bleeding like a stuck pig lol.

I can deal with the cramps, and take ibuprofen for that but I can't stand bleeding so heavily. I even had to miss some days of class last semester because I bled so much that I couldn't even last the 30 minute car drive to the school before leaking. The bleeding for the last two and a half weeks is also really bothersome to me. And since I got the IUD, I have felt smelly. I know that sounds disgusting, but I feel I can smell myself and I know I am very clean.

Ugh I know how that is. When I was 16 I was on the depo shot. I gained 20lbs and bled for the last 6 months straight. What a nightmare, I refused to take it anymore.
