Warning in advance, this Mother's story will touch your heart and make you cry, well more like bawl your eyes out, but it's so important to read what happened to her and how real it is, it could happen to any one. Please pass a long to friends.

My friend posted that on Facebook and although I'm glad I read it - my head is pounding from crying so hard. Tomorrow my husband and I are taking down our sons 5 shelf stand and getting them a 2 shelf and a multiple toy bin instead... I know securing it is suppose to prevent an accident but it doesn't settle my mind after reading this poor Mother's heart break... I couldn't imagine going through that.

I've read it before. It is heartbreaking and very well written. I can understand her guilt, I feel guilty enough when I nap on couch while the kids are RIGHT there watching tv, but to send her back to bed and have that happen

I read the first half of that one day and had to stop. Just finished it and cried but I'm definitely inspired to recheck all of my furniture. I really don't have much furniture but now I feel so guilty for not having done so already.

I can't even imagine that pain. Or, rather, I can get a little peek and it's enough to send me into sobs - and I am NOT a crier.

I feel the exact same way.... I had to stop and finally I read the rest and then checked on my boys' shelf out of curiousity. I wasn't really aware of how important it is to secure the shelf never thinking that they could tip it or anything like that at such a young age... I feel terrible for not having thought of that before but there will be changes made to prevent a potential accident from ever happening. I'm just glad it has inspired other parents who weren't as aware like myself to prevent anything from happening to their babies.

I didn't really know, either. I mean, I knew obviously tall, skinny book shelves - that's the only thing I own that worries me, and it's behind a gate. But I get how dressers would tip... and TVs - a TV fell on my sister once, IDK how even, but it did - luckily it was a small one, but still.

My God this posts really pulls at me on a very visceral level. I've BEEN the ER nurse in too many situations with the same outcome as this. Child backed over by her dad's car, SIDS, knocked down baby gate and fall down into a basement (completely missing the stairs) the list, sadly, is too long to recount here. I guess what I'm trying to say is that no matter how these things happen, there is always a parent or two that can only make sense of the situation by blaming themselves. These are, by far, the most difficult days to deal with in any healthcare field. There are no answers. You can beat yourself up and say, "if only I hadn't slept in!" Or "if only that desk was bolted!" But there will always be the perfect storm for the most unfortunate of parents out there- and they need to know, it isn't their fault. They won't wake up early every day. You can't bolt down every piece of furniture your child will ever come across. Man this post brings up awful memories
