Toddler bed?

What age did you switch your baby from a crib to a toddler bed? How did you decide they we're ready?

DD will be 18 months on the 24th. She takes herself to her room and cries when she's ready for bed. She tells us night night, and tries to climb into her bed all by herself. She doesn't really fight bedtime anymore. Sometimes she fights naps, but if she's tired she goes to bed willingly. Her bed is the only place shell sleep though. She won't sleep in any other room, any other bed. She gets excited if I try to lay her in my bed and wants to play. I feel like she might be ready, but SO thinks we need to break her of going to bed with a sippy before we switch her bed. He thinks the cup will keep her awake and mess up her sleeping habits if she realizes she can get back up.

DD drinks from a sippy at night and she sleeps in her toddler bed like a dream. We decided to just try it after she got a toddler bed for Xmas, and she's done great in it. We had to tell her to stay in bed the first night, but that's normal once a child is not in the crib and has that freedom.

Haha I totally didn't realize who you were, I was about to ask how old lol. I'm really thinking about doing it. She's getting so independent, I think it would be good for her.
