If your not progressing, you don't need to be in the hospital. Here they won't admit you until 4 cm and you are in active labor.

The main thing they're going to look at is your progression...if you haven't dilated anymore, they will send you home...and yes, they can do that.

Yep. I was sent home with contractions 3-5 minutes apart.

You have to be a 4 or 5 for most hospitals to keep you.

Yes, they can. I was sent home while contracting and dilated to a 3 and was back 4 hours later, dilated to an 8.

They may keep you if they check you again and you've dilated. They won't keep you if you're not progressing.

are they making you walk around or are they trying to stop the contractions..

they'll probably want you to labor at home to save them room...if they send you home and you live far I'd just walk around the parking lot....it might help make you dilate..

Ask them to let you walk or something in my town they don't fully keep you till your 4cm the fifth time i went into the hospital they finally kept me cause my water broke at 6 or 7am i didn't deliver till 6:27pm i walked a lot to get to 3 1/2 then layed around till my doctor got there i came in at 2am and i was 2 1/2 they didn't think i would stay but after checking me so much i had my bloody show and then my water broke. Good luck! -labor dust-

if you are not progressing than you are not in ''active'' labor and they can and most likely will send you home   it has happened to me b4 w/my 3rd child. I was sent home w/contractions 5min apart......dealt w/the discomfort for about 8hrs at home then returned to hospital when contractions were 3min apart. They kept me then because i had progressed from 2cm, to 5cm.

I think it depends on your hospital. I was contracting ever 3 minutes and they didn't send me home.
