Sebaceous cysts (blocked oil gland)

anyone have it? what I thought was a blackhead it actually a cyst.. it has been on my neck for months just a tiny flesh colored bump (kinda like a pimple but not red) till the last few days now its gotten alot bigger & hurts! I went to the doc today and he told me what it was and told me to put a hot wash cloth on it 2-3 times a day for a week.. Im just wondering if any of you mamas had it and how did you get the damn thing to go away? lol

Yes! On my back. It got so big and painful I had to go to my Dr. She lanced and drained it within 5 minutes and the pain went away instantly.

Surprised your Doctor didn't just nip it in the bud now. Heat did smurf for my cyst.

Thats what im thinking that heat aint going to smurf for this either lol he told me not to pop it.. but im starting to think thats the only way its going to feel better!! Ugh!

Yuckkk I smurfing hate those things! I have one on my shoulder that never goes away lol I made my mom pop it since df wouldn't because he was too grossed out lol it keeps coming back though.... It will stay flat for a while after its popped and slowly get big again. Bleghhh they're so gross

I get them in my ear canal! So annoying and painful! I just pretty much keep it clean but if they won't go away I have to go to the doctor and get them lanced. Thank God I have only had it done once(OUCH!!!!). I actually have one in my cartilage right now instead of the canal and it hurts/itches like a bitch.

yeah! thats what he told me that popping aint going to make them go away!! I beggining to think that heat aint either.. least popping will make it feel better

I get them on my face (I had one freshman year and my mom refused to bring me to the dr and people were saying it was a tumor and that I was dying of cancer) the dr referred me to a dermatologist right away and they cut it off. I have one by my eye that's to close to the tear duct to remove so if it acts up I have to put hot tea bags on it to help relieve some pressure until it goes down but it never goes away completly.

In the ear!! Oh hun im so sorry!!   I couldn't imagine there I get pimples there but least they go away!

Popping it can make it worse. When you push on it your pushing some out but your pushing more of it down deeper.

have you ever popped it? How long do you leave the tea bags on for??! Im wondering if my wash cloth is hot enough.. our hott water heater sucks and were always out of it lol

Yeah, it sucks! I remember the first one I had(the one I had to get lanced) got so big it blocked off my ear canal but we had no idea what it was at the time. I just have really oily skin as it is so my glands became over active in my ear.

I won't pop the one by my eye because I could cause damage which is why the dr won't touch it either but for others I take a pin or something (so bad I know) and poke it so some drains out to relieve the pressure without pushing the crap in deeper. I do that for a few days and eventually it goes away.
