how do I stop him?

posted 22nd Jan
LO is 3.5 and lately he's been playing a lot with his private parts and complains of it "hurting" even when he's doing nothing he says it "hurts" and wants to mess with it. How do I get him to stop playing with himself? Is this normal? Anyone else?

Maybe he's touching it because it does hurt? There could be an underlying issue there...

That was my first thought too.

DS is the same age and plays with himself sometimes. I just tell him to go to his room and close the door if he's going to do that. But he never complains about it hurting. Something could be bothering him down there.

HAve you looked at it to make sure it is ok. My son keep telling me the one time when I looked at it there was a hair around the head. The whole thing was turning blue.. Poor guy.

Touching and exploring is normal.if he's doing it in public though or around the house, stop him and tell him that its okay to do it, but in privacy like his room.does he tell you it hurts to pee? Or just the penis itself hurts? Can you see if its scratched at all?

I'd seriously consider taking him to a dr. about that. Maybe a UTI or something?

He has a pysical for school tomorrow which I plan to ask the doctor about but I've checked it's not red, swollen etc. and this just started days ago and has gotten worse. seems to be when he;s bored and just relaxing or right before bed he starts complaining or messing with it.

Nope doesn't hurt to pee. It only 'hurts" when it's hard and no scratches or anything.

His pee isn't dark yellow or cloudy and he doesn't complain about it when he pees.

Maybe it's uncomfortable for him when he gets hard?

I'm guessing he doesn't understand the feeling? So he says it hurts? Because when he tells me (or his dad) it's almost as an annoyance rather than actual pain. Just wanted to see how normal this is.

the other ladies are giving you great advice so I wont repeat but you have checked it and worse comes to worse have it mentioned to the dr. he may have a uti just no outside symptoms but sounds like blue balls it sux but it happens sadly the less he stimulates it the less the issue will occur but boys will be boys
