Chewing on clothing.

My 5 year old chews on his clothes & it is the most frustrating thing. Like he'll chew on the necks of his t-shirts, the bottom of his t-shirts. If it's long sleeved, he'll chew on the sleeves. He chewed little holes around the bottom of his sleeves and also the neck area of his good winter Jacket. It just looks gross and even if he doesn't make holes, it pulls his clothes out of shape.

Does anyone else have this problem? What can I do to make him stop? I have told him countless times to stop doing it, but when he does it, it's like he doesn't even notice, he's just off in his own little world.

Nothing. I know so many adults my 33 yr old brother included that still do this. Lol

DD is 3 and she sucks on her sleeves.

My son did that around that age. I would just tell him not to do it when I caught him, he eventually grew out of it though.

My brother used to but doesn't anymore, at 26. I know SO's 15 yo brother does it. I was just hoping if I could stop the habit while he's young because it's annoying as smurf. lol.

He will also chew the tops on the drink bottle once the drink is gone.... I mean, He just chews on everything really, the other day he was playing the computer & I had my budget written on a piece of paper ready to be typed up and he started eating it... Just taking bites of and chewing on paper.

I use to suck on the neck of my shirt in front of my mouth for like two years. My mom smurfing hated it. I would try one of those teething necklaces with a stone ring for him to wear and chew on maybe?

we are going through this with my daughter.. shes 5 as well and it only recently started when i got pregnant.. they said its a comfort thing .. at school her teacher takes her jacket away and tells her its going to the nono spot and she gets it when they go outside and when i get her.. her sleeves either get pulled up or i keep her in teeshorts or 3/4 sleeves.. its driving me crazy and at night time i have to pull it out of her mouth when she sleeps

My 10 yr old chews on anything plastic or rubbery stuff. Its annoying too. Can't get her to stop.

i used to always chew on platic (mostly platic bags) i never swallowed it .. but i did it every time i was bored or stressed and i was bored or stressed all the time
