Baby gender change after 16 weeks?
posted 22nd Jan
Has anyone had a gender ultrasound done at 16 weeks and told it was a girl because of 3 lines and it actually changed to a boy? I am having my doubts. I have 2 girls and their pictures look nothing like this one I got with baby number 3 and my mommy gut keeps telling me its a boy. I'm prob just hoping for a boy and that's why I feel it's a boy but I dot wanna buy girl stuff and the sex changes. I am excited but kind of sad it's not a boy. My oldest almost cried when he heard she wasn't getting a baby brother.

I worried about it for 12 weeks, lol. I wasn't convinced by my 16 week u/s because it didn't look like my older two girls'. Just went for a growth scan two weeks ago and my perinotologist said he would pay for baby's trabel system if she comes out a he, that's how certain he was haha.

in my experience with my first child the gender can change no matter the gestational age the u/s was done. At 18 weeks we had a gender u/s told boy. Had a lot of complications and multiple u/s and all said girl. Each done by a different person finally at 34 or 35 weeks we finally learned she was indeed a boy. His boy parts took up most of the screen a week later i deliver a baby boy

I'm in the same boat except we're hoping to have a girl. My doctor keeps going back and forth on what this baby can be since its legs are either crossed or the umbilical cord is right in the way. We went to an ultrasound tech and she said it was a boy but she didn't see a penis, just the scrotum, even though the umbilical cord is laying between the legs right there. But at my last doctor appointment he still couldn't tell. With both our boys we knew at 14 weeks 100% sure. So we are kinda thinking this is a girl since its so hard to tell.

I'm trying to figure how to add the picture on here if baby number 3 and my daughters to compare. Il be happy if its a girl but would love a son. I just had the feeling it was a boy and they saw 3 lines but the middle was really long and it was like a dot than a line. And the shots werent the best shots because lil bean wouldn't really work with us

Just to clarify, you mean can the sonographer get it wrong, right? The scans are never 100% and only really down to interpretation until after 28+ weeks (when things are obviously bigger, At 16 weeks they dont normally tell you because there is so little to see. The gender is determined by the sperm at the point of conception, it cannot change or be influenced without medical intervention.

I had an ultrasound done that I paid for and they said to can see 3 lines and u can see them in the picture but it doesn't look like my other girls. I guess because it happened to my sister that I'm worried it can happen to me. But yes I was wondering if the ultrasound tech was wrong lol sorry I should have said tech in there
