Pre-School

posted 22nd Jan
My son's first day at pre school was today. It all went very well until I pick him up and the Teacher metioned that he would not sit or listen. My son is VERY active at day care too. He is only three years old and will be four in August. DH and I will talk to him tonight before he goes to bed about his behavior, but do any mommas have advice or tips on how to approach him and for him to FULLY understand? Techniques? I would hate for the teacher to tell me he can no longer attend because of his behavior.

TIA!

Just give him time to adjust to the routines. My son did that his first day. The second, he was an angel and has been ever since.

It's his first day! The teacher should understand that, I would think... it takes time for kids to adjust to that environment.

It is his first day. Not everyone has good first days, kwim? Many schools will have a 90 day acclimation period.

K was like this the first day of dance class. She was little miss talkative and would not sit still. It was just due to a new environment, she was fine the next week. She hasnt had any problems at preschool (which started 3 weeks after dance).

That's rediculus if they're already acting concerned about a 3 yr old not sitting on his first day. 3 yr olds shouldn't even be expected to sit for more than a couple minutes. Of he's having issues I would first look at the classroom practices. It's diff when you have a 5 yr old who still can't sit at the end I the year, but that is not a legitimate concern for a 3 yr old on their first day.
