Question?

posted 22nd Jan
I was at my appointment today and my doctor was talking about some kind of tablet that can be inserted into my cervix to help thin it out. I have never heard of such a thing. Does any have any info about it? What it is called and is it safe? She said it does not have any effect on the baby.

No, I didn't have it done. We were just talking about it.

I've heard of it, but not sure what it's called.
How come you didn't just ask your doctor what it was called, etc.?

A lot of drs do it around here. Usually if they are inducing you they do the pill the night before. And the next morn start the pitocin. I've had several friends have it done with no complications but I'm not sure the name of it. Probably best to google

My brain was processing other info at the time. My pregnancy brain has a mind of its own.

Haha, I see. I totally get that.
I tried googling it just now, but couldn't find a name. Maybe you can call back and ask!

Quoting The Doctor:" Cervadil? "
that sounds right. Do you have an experience with it?

Thanks for your guys help. I will do more research on it. I want to go into labor naturally but am very curious about this. As of now there is no reason to induce my labor, myself and my daughter are doing fine.

I had to be induced because DD's heart rate kept dropping whenever I'd have a contraction (after my due date).

Instead of doing the cervadil and pitocin, they just broke my water and that started my labor. If it comes to being induced, you could always ask your doctor if that's an option for you. <3

i have been induced for 4 out of my 5 daughters 1 for heart decells one for iugr and 2 were 2 weeks late it is usually cervidil is inserted in the hospital the night before induction but sometimes causes labor to just start right up 2 times it started my labor right off the other 2 i needed pitocin there are risks you can start having very strong contractions right away no warning just one minute no contractions next minute contraction lasting 45 seconds to a minute then 30 second break onto the next contraction they take it right out and they stopped coming so hard and fast for me sometimes it does nothing at all you cant be up walking around for a good chunk of time i think its 4 hours but not positive. if you need to be induced it usually is a good starter

We have talked about it. I told her I don't want any kind of drugs if I can avoid it. My daughter is more important than anything. Whatever it takes to deliver her safety and healthy I am game for. SO is on board too. He knows my position and he supports it. He comes to my doctors visits with me so he can be part of the process and know what is going on.

That's fantastic!   Great that you have a good support system!
