how did you do it?

posted 22nd Jan
Lose weight that is. How often did you excerise? What exercises did you do? What did you eat and how often? I seriously need to get this process rolling but I don't know what's holding me back. I just need that final push to start I guess. My ideal would be 60-70lbs but would be happy with 40-50 so what tricks or programs did you do that was successful?

That's basically it.
You're wasting time searching for a "program" to slim you down.
Turn off the computer, go walk for 30 minutes, and come home and eat a healthy, balanced, and filling lunch.
Good luck!

Get up early, drink 2L of water before eating anything. Go for a walk/jog/run. Eat a small breakfast, like 2 eggs and some fruit. Drink more water like 16 oz. Then around 10am eat a light snack like yogurt or more fruit. Then eat a small lunch with some veggies and go easy on carbs. Then around 3 have another snack, fruit or a veggie. Then have dinner early like no later than 8, and go easy on any meats or carbs. Lots of veggies. If you can work out again before dinner for an hour or 2. Then get lots of rest! You can start by detoxing also, juicing lots of fruits and veggies for a couple days with nothing else but water. I lost 50 lbs in a couple months. I'm going to start this process again because I just had LO so I gots some baby weight! Good luck to you! Stay focused too! Cut out ALL junk. And tell yourself everyday in the mirror, "I accept myself unconditionally, right now".

Well I've heard great things about the 30 day shred and things like zumba, those are the kinds of programs I mean. Unfortunately can't shut the computer off right now cuz I'm at work lol I guess my issue is finding filling healthy foods to. Nothing healthy fill me up.

The hunger from changing to a healthy food diet lasts about 3 weeks. You need to calculate your calories to ensure that you are meeting your requirements and eat small meals throughout the day. You'll be hungry for a little while but right now (depending on how you eat) your body is used to having a larger stomach and never really being hungry.

I am eating healthy and the right portions. I do 6 meals a day, with that being 2 healthy snacks in between meals. I eat a healthy breakfast and then salad for lunch, white meat with greens and whole grains for dinner. Red meat once a week. Eat healthy and exercise and your good to go. I have yet to exercise as much as I want. But the change in eating healthy I am loosing weight. Look up healthy snacks, and just eat your meals right based on the food pyramid. Like they say you should have whole grains, about 6 oz of meat and leafy greens and whatever else. I just use that to go by.

zumba is a FUN way to work out! I haven't tried the others. I have done P90x for strength trainoing and the results were awesome but the workouts were brutal!
oatmeal is a filling breakfast food. Add honey to sweeten it up and some fruits/ nuts as well. Breakfast should be your biggest meal of the day, followed by lunch, and dinner should be the smallest.
poultry and fish are pretty filling, just avoid the bottom feeders, like tilapia.
portion control is key to success. If you have a sweet tooth, have a slice of dark chocolate. Don't deprive yourself, but don't go nuts!
also meal prepping is great. Planning your meals ahead of time keeps you from eating everything in the fridge while you "decide what you really want".
Slice up fruits and veggies and have them ready to snack on.
Separate other snacks, like nuts, into baggies in their correct portion sizes....

Its hard getting started if you don't know where to start off at. First and foremost you should be tracking what you eat. I use http://www.myfitnesspal.com . Don't try and do everything at once if you plan on making a life change. If you start exercising and reducing calories then you are going to get discouraged real quick and want to give up. This is what I did and I am at 35 pounds lost and 35 to go.

1) Start logging. Start today with your next meal and do it for a week straight. Look at your log see what your problem foods are and what meal you tend to eat a lot at.
2) Start removing your problem foods one by one and one meal at time then replace them with veggies lean meat and fruits and whole grains (don't eat too much fruit due to the sugar). Don't be afraid to try something new. Continue doing this for about 3 weeks. By now you should have been logging for 4 weeks total. 1 week to see what you are eating before and 3 slowing making those changes to stay with in your calorie range.
3) Start exercising. Dont start off too long or strenuous or yet again you will get discouraged and quit. I started off just walking 30 minutes a day then built on that. If you dont like walking then go swimming ride a bike outside or at the gym. Do Zumba, Brazilian Butt Lift, The Firm (they have tons of low impact aerobics great for starters) Find one you like and do it.

This is what I found to help me. I am now up to 3 mile walks per day plus a work out in the afternoon.

Hope this helps!! Feel free to shoot any me any questions.

ined loseit.com to count my calories and that stopped me from shoving tons of food in my mouth because i didn't want to see myself go over that number.. i also had a gnc/equate weightloss shake in the morning, a 100 cal snack, weight loss shake for lunch, 100 cal snack, and then regular dinner. i didn't drink soda at all.. no fast food, no junk food.. i worked out 1 hr a day sometimes 2. 5 days a week.. i started out small doing pilates, then bicycling.. those burned out fast because i got bored.. i started a hot momma pole dance class and loved it so i bought a super expensive (but best on the market) pole and started teaching myself... i also started doing weight machines in the gym.. doing pole/gym i lost 37 lbs in 4-5 months..

this is litterally what I did and lost 50lbs in three months my staring weight was 190lbs and I got down to 140lbs. I plan on doing it again now that I had DS and he is in a steady routine for me to take time to excerice and get a full nights sleep.

I did weight watchers at first, however the good thing about that was basically getting me to track my foods. When I was honest about what I was eating I was able to make better choices. I now track on myfitnesspal generally. I drink more water. I rarely drink soda and I cut out most sweets. I still have them sometimes.

I work out, but generally for me it's more general activity. I got a fitbit (basically a fancy pedometer) so I could track my movement and get more in throughout the day. I rarely do an actual "work out" and just stay more active all day long.

I've seen good results. I'm not where I want to be yet, but I'm much better off then I was a year ago =D
