What do you mean by "abnormal"?

OP, what was the reason your lo had bloodwork?

it's typically not ordered until around 18 months unless there is something going on.

Quoting Awkward:" If a 12 month old baby hasn't grown since 6 months and has actually lost 4 lbs since? Even if the baby is meeting developmental milestones on time and seems happy and healthy other than not growing?"

Are they certain there wasn't an measurement error on the nurses end? They said my daughter shrunk half an inch between 6 and 9 months...

My LO was in the 90th percentile for head, height, and weight until her 12 month check. She then went to 50th percentile for everything. She lost 6 pounds between the 12 month and 15 month check and didn't grow height wise since 9 months... she was diagnosed with failure to thrive and tested for CF because of her chronic cough and poor weight gain. She is actually on target or ahead for her age group developmentally, but is still diagnosed with failure to thrive.

She is 17 months now and actually gained two pounds back and grew a few centimeters so maybe your LO will do the same!

I would be concerned about the weight loss, yes. Talk to pedi about how much she should be eating. I know at that age they should have 3 meals and at least 2 snacks a day.

When I was younger I have a Failure To Thrive. They wanted to give me growth hormones. My dad said no to it && I'm perfectly normal 5'2 and 110 most of my life (now 130 cause of not loosing baby weight yet). I'd ask your pedi about it but if they're meeting all milestones and its just weight you're worried about it might not be anything serious. I'd rule everything out first just to be save though. With me I just had a really fast metabolism and could eat anything I wanted and would lose weight.

Sorry I ditched this post. I got distracted by my kids.
The blood abnormalty was discovered when he was 7 weeeks old and for some reason his billiruben levels were very high (he was jaundice at birth but after 24 hours on the lights he was fine) and the doctors were concered and had full lab work done. At the time Ds iron was extremly high as well as his billiruben. Between 7 and 11 weeks Ds had countless blood draws and was observed often. We live in a small town with very small town doctors, after talking with a specialist our doctor sent Ds blood to a much bigger hospital who annalyzed Ds blood, the abnormalties started correcting themselves and so I was told not to worry about it.
I went to Wic yesterday and Ds hemagloben (sp?) was very low. The representitive told me what foods to give Ds to bring up his levels, and we have been doing that.
As far as the weight loss and FTT the Wic representitive suggested we go to a diffrent clinic for that. SO, I cancelled the scheduled well child here and will be going to a pediatrition who cared for my older children before we moved to bum sm*rfing egypt here. I had the clinic transfer Ds's file and will be asking the doctor I know well and trust to check his blood work and look over Ds file.
The Pediatrition we will be seeing works closely with my mom and I am confident he will give us the best care. Hopefully it just a slow growing boy.
Thanks every one for your input. Again sorry I ditched this post.

My dd is 11.5 months 26 inches long and 15lbs, she has met all her milestones but walking. She has not been failure to thrive ever, since she is happy and healthy and was still growing. We meet with her pedi the day after she turns 1, tho and will see what happens. She has not grown in length or weight since 9 months old.

So almost 3 months, she will be 1 feb 4th.

Ah okay. Jaundice is pretty common, so is high iron. But bring all of that up with the new doctor and tell her how concerned you are about his weight. In the meantime try not to panic because he seems fine from what you wrote. Good luck!

Thank you! I feel better after talking to Wic. I am excited for an excuse to spend a long weekend back home though. Mil offered to baby sit while I am home so I can have a girls night with my friends. I love that woman!!
