I have good news! As some of you may know, I'm changing my daughter's name (If you want to know why, see my previous threads). Well, I went to the courthouse today and at first the lady said "Well, to change a name, the person has to be a resident of Ingham county for a year. Also it's $160, plus other fees." I was so upset. I thought I was going to have to wait 4 & a half months. Then she says, "Well you can try vital records, but I think their limit is 2 or 3 months."
So I called vital records and you can change your baby's name here in Michigan up until a year without going to court. All I need to do is fill out a paper and send it in with $40 and they will mail me her new birth certificate. I picked up the paper and I'm filling it out today and sending it in Super happy that it's so easy.
