Quoting Had my 10/10/10 baby!:" Thanks so much! I've been looking around and your reply was what I needed! I hate hormonal birth control ... [snip!] ... I heard that it wa almost $1000. Do you get checked every so often to ensure it isn't going trough your uterine wall?"
Yeah I check it after every period. If the string is in the same place then it hasn't moved. And Idk why it's free at planned parenthood, that's where I got it and you only pay is you want to donate to them, and then it's whatever you feel like giving them. And I'm pretty sure it's not normally 1000, I was told the mirena was about 500 dollars and was told the Paragard is even cheaper than the Mirena, which would make sense since all it is is a little t-shaped piece of copper, the copper acts as a spermicide so it is not as hard to manufacture as Mirena which uses hormones.
And I agree, cramping is definantly worth 12 years since I'm not positive if I'm done having kids, and sure as heck beats weight gain, blood clots, mood swings, abnormal periods, and all that good stuff you get with hormonal birth control. Glad I could help!
