Intense Pelvic Pressure

posted 7th Jun
I'll be 31 weeks on Monday, and I've noticed intense pelvic pressure/pain/soreness in the past couple of weeks. It honestly feels like I've been whacked between the legs, with this resulting soreness. I'm stiff, even, and have started to waddle around because of it. I read that I would feel a new pressure when the baby settled into a head-down position, but this hurts so much more than I thought it would. Opening my legs wide seems to hurt worse. Any thoughts? Anyone else feeling/felt this type of pain? What do/did you do to feel better?

i did feel that about 2 weeks ago, it only lasted for a few days. i had an appointment on tues and asked the doctor and she said that's what it is, just the baby settling into position, and when she checked me she could feel her head all the way down. so don't worry momma! like i said the pain only lasted a couple days but now it's constant pressure, doesn't hurt, but you definitely know they are there!

It's probably nerve pain from your little one settling down. It's pretty vicious, but take some Tylenol and a warm bath. That may help with the pain.

I started feeling that around 28 weeks & then at my 29w2d appointment was told he was head down.

The only way I get rid of it is walking more or sitting for a long time.

I figured it was normal, so thanks to everyone for confirming it! I'm both relieved and not, you know what I mean? Part of me gets so tired of telling the Dr. about my symptoms & having her tell me "oh that's normal." I just had an ultrasound last week and she's definitely head down!!

I've been feeling the pressure lately too. It is very uncomfortable for me when I'm sitting or bending most. My doctor recommended doing pelvic excercises and I really like doing the ones that are supposed to help expand you hips. Its kinda like... you stand behind a chair or something to hold on to and then swing you legs from front to back and side to side. It seems to help me the most. The excercises are also good for getting your body ready for labor.

I'll have to try that one, thanks Correen!  I've been doing these pelvic "wags," where you get down on all fours and sort of move your pelvis up and down, kind of arching then curving your back.  It's supposed to get your uterus off the nerves back there as well, and it seems to help some.

Yah I've done that one too. Actually I do alot of different ones but the one I was telling you about... Doesn't bother me to do even with the intense pressure. Some ofthe other moves are kinda hard at this point. It almost hurts more when I try to do them. So I've been sticking with the one for the past week. I do it inthe morning and before bed. It seems to easy the pressure so I can relax enough to fall asleep. Try it it really works for me... good luck!

sitting on an exercise ball helps. I've been feeling that since 30 weeks and I'm now approaching 37- with no change. Hang it there, at least we're on the downside of this... almost to the finish line
