DD has a splinter in her foot.

posted 22nd Jan
How the heck do I get it out? DH and I tried holding her down and tried to push it out and grab it with tweezers, but it didn't work. It just went further in.

Advice please? I don't want it to get infected.

Uhg never squeeze a splinter they can go further in and cause infections. Maybe wit until she is alseep and groggy, and use a small nife or nail clipper to try to remove the skin where t is (I know this sounds horrid) just enough to get it out. If that doesn't work or you can't stomach doing that take her in to her pedi or something.

i read somewhere that soaking the foot in water, baking soda mix, helps work it out on its own. but it takes a few times, sometimes for a few days to get it all the way out.

Clip the dead skin around the splinter & then pull it out with the tweezers

soak her foot in Epsom salt and warm water and then try to pull it out with the tweezers. Also if that doesn't work then try a warm washcloth on her foot and then the tweezers again.

give her a warm bath or soak her foot, the wood will absorb the water and expand, making it easier to get out. Let us know if the elmers glue works

I don't have any glue and I tried to get it out right after she had a bath... hmm. I might just wait until she's asleep and try to get it out again.

I always did Epsom salt bath s& usually they'd disappear in the bath. If not, I left it alone until after asleep & did it with a head mount flashlight. Recently I learned that honey on a bandaid works. Leave it on overnight. It has a drawing property and helps avoid infection.

soak and clean first. Sterilize a needle and peel bck the skin covering it gently with the needle and then guide the splinter out with needle. My mom always did this for me and it never hurt
