Does sex start Labor? Serious question please help!
posted 22nd Jan
SO/BD said another reason he doesn't want to have sex is because I am only a little over 6 weeks from my due date, and he'd be pissed if my water broke during. He seems to think I will go into labor if we have sex. Does sex start labor??? Like will I go into labor early if I have sex? This is my first baby and I have no idea. I just want to either see that he is right so I can drop it, or show him that I am the one whose right. I told him the sperm helps soften the cervix but until your body is ready on it's own you won't go into labor and have the baby.

No it won't start labor, you'll probably get a few contractions when you orgasm, I had sex about every day and I still went over my due date.

I wish. DH and I had sex every day trying to start my labor with DS1 and I went past my due date and had to be induced.

No it states on the Fact or myth portion of "I Didn't know i was pregant" that this is a wives tail. There is a hormone that you produce when you hit the big O that is in the drug they give you to induce, but it is not a high enough amount and is not a sure way to start your labor. If it was I would be having it 10 times a day, because I want this baby out, and have to wait due to being only 32 weeks.

Okay I went into preterm labor twice...niether of those times was it becuz of sex. I was over working and carrying a very low baby girl. Then when it got around to the due date we tried to get the labor going by having sex and I walked more than I've ever walked in my life...when its going to happen it will happen. Don't worry about sex.

Semen contains prostoglandins which soften your cervix. Having am orgasm releases oxytocin and causes uterine contractions. All of that is required for labor. But just having sex is VERY unlikely to start labor, unless your body was already ready to go into labor. I had sex multiple times a day every day until the night before my induction. I would cramp a little afterwards, was losing mucus daily but no labor. It's safe to say go right ahead.

I plan to show him this. I want to prove he can't use that as a reason not to amongst his other reasons for not. So thanks ladies I have proof!

LOL poor guy is probably just a little scared of hurting the baby or something. My husband says my big tummy get's in the way and makes it a tad uncomfortable, but we still try.

I had sex every day sometimes more than once during my entire last trimester and I went over due. Unless the baby's ready they're not coming. I tried everything except the dangerous methods. She's here now and I couldn't be happy that's she's healthy I don't care she was overdue now !!

I wish DH would be afraid of having sex lol. He wants it all the time and it HURTS when I'm pregnant and makes me all swollen for hours and I can barely walk afterward. Oy.

Lol no it won't..not unless you're ready that is..if your cervix is starting to efface and dialate the semen can help soften it..but I highly doubt at 34 weeks your even close to that stage...tell him to givea you tha penis!! Lol

He claims that 1. he isn't in the mood, for 2. it's too close to my due date and I don't need to go into labor yet because it's still too early, and for 3. some other reasons I can't think of right this second. He isn't afraid we were having sex find just a few weeks ago but then he just wasn't in the mood. Maybe my stomach is part of it. I mean I was on top and he told me my belly was squishing him and it made me giggle a little and so I sat up straighter so it would help him to breathe lol. But I just wanted proof that he is wrong!

I've never heard of a man not being in the mood lol ..but he won't send you into labor..it can't start labor, only help it along when it starts...which is a long time from now. ..tell him sex is actually really good for baby and body, it helps them practice for when the day comes to have him
