NYU student roommate with single mom and four year old

Any thoughts on this NYU student who was made to share a dorm with a single mom and her four year old before petitioning for a room change?

I think it's crazy that NYU would even allow that situation since a dorm is no place for a child and can barely house two people let alone three.

Usually they have family housing. I'd never want my child to live in a dorm. That seems so baaad.

You'd be surprised how big some dorm rooms could be. I had a massive room my junior year in college for my first degree. I'm not sure how big NYU's are, but my uni had some very big rooms.
The sharing the room thing is bullsmurf, though. The only way I could see that is if the person volunteered and the person involved here obviously didn't.

First off I think it's weird that they let a child live in the dorms.

Second off, I think it's complete smurf that they expected another student to share that dorm. How do they think she's going to study with someone else's child going wild? That's not fair at all.

A college dorm is definitely not the place for a child with the kind of things that go on.

Well i do not believe a child should be living in a dorm room, i think that girl is an out right bitch, mainly for this sentence right here:

What "consequences" is she facing because of her roommates "life decisions"? Come on now.

She stated it earlier in the article. Who would be responsible if the child got into her medicine cabinet or cleaning supplies? She could potentially fail her classes if she couldn't study or get enough rest at night. Her roommates life decisions are to live with a child in a dorm, which is really unacceptable IMO.

Isnt that what family housing is for?

i had a room mate that locked me out all the time and interupted my sleep to smurf her boyfriend even though i worked and went to school full time so she had plenty of time to do what she wanted. i got a new room mate problem solved

That's what she was trying to do.....
When you live in a dorm you can't just say "hey I don't like you, let me get a new roommate". They assign who you live with, and that's kind of just where you are.

in my dorm you had to live together for 2 weeks. if it wasnt compatible they let you move if there was an opening. id rather live with a 4 your old then a dirty drunken slut lol

Theyre not all like that. I didn't live in the dorms, but I'm pretty sure the ones at my old school, once you were placed that's where you were and it was hard to get a switch. I don't think I would want to live with a 4 year old that wasn't mine, or a drunken slut lol
