they go to chiropractor school, not medical school. Same as podiatrists and dentists. All doctors, but go to different schooling.

Chiropractors do go to medical school. At least a legit one will have went through medical training, earning a doctorate in chiropractic, just as a DO is not a doctor of medicine but still a doctor with a doctorate who went through medical school. Is it the same as say, an MD? No, neither is the school a DO goes through. Or an MD with an HMD added. Which, our chiropractor actually is, an M.D H.M.D

No, no and no...lol

A Doctor of Medicine & a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine have the same educations, training and privileges.

A chiropractor does not.

No idea what M.D.H.M.D. is.

An H.M.D is a doctor of holistic medicine. An M.D H.M.D is an MD who has continued on to get a degree in holistic medicine. And they are not the same, DO's have attended osteopathic medical school, which IS different, vastly from that of an MD. DC is actually more comparable to DO's in their training and approach. Well, in theory anyway. But MD and DO's do have to pass the same tests, but their medical schooling is not the same.

I'm sorry, but that's just not correct. You can google it if you're not convinced. A DO has some additional training in manipulative medicine that a MD doesn't receive, but everything else is identical. DO are surgeons, OBGYNS, family physicians, ect ect...

Right, of course they are. However, their schooling is not identical. You don't graduate medical school then decide what you have at the end of your name lol.

Breakdown of Training: Medical school and Residency

M.D.

  • 137 M.D. programs in the USA; 17 M.D. programs in Canada (check out the LCME for updated list of programs trying to gain accreditation)
  • 4 year college degree required prior to medical school with prerequisite courses (physics, bio, general chem, organic chem, English)
  • 4 year medical school program
  • Applicants use the AMCAS® application to apply (includes college transcript, MCAT®, personal statement, supplementary application materials for most schools)
  • Many programs also offer M.D./PhD and M.D./MPH degrees and other dual degree programs
  • Graduates enter the National Residency Match Program (NRMP®) and go on to residencies in any specialty of medicine
  • Must pass the USMLE® to obtain a medical license

D.O

  • 26 D.O. programs in the USA
  • 4 year college degree required prior to medical school with prerequisite courses (physics, bio, general chem, organic chem, English)
  • 4 year medical school program
  • Applicants use the AACOMAS® application to apply (includes college transcript, MCAT®, personal statement regarding reason for wanting to be a D.O., and a letter of recommendation from a practicing D.O.)
  • Osteopathic medical schools are not affiliated with teaching hospitals, so schools are partnered with medical facilities and medical offices in the community, such that students often have less exposure to research than at M.D. programs
  • Few programs offer D.O./PhD degrees
  • Graduates go on to residencies in any specialty of medicine; there are more than 500 osteopathic residency programs, but graduates can also enter the NRMP (7.1% of NRMP applicants in 2011 were students/graduates of osteopathic medical schools)[4]
  • D.O.s must pass the COMLEX to obtain a medical license
  • D.O.s have limited options practicing outside of the U.S. Unfortunately, the AOA limits access to their International Licensure Summary, which is the official list of licensing options. Wikipedia does have a list, although I can not verify how accurate it is.

Dear lord this smurf is eating my brain. PROGRAM. Sorry, I think my RA is eating at my brain lately. I keep forgetting basic words. The other day I forgot the work perk, then yesterday I forgot what a saucepan was called. Anyway, the program they choose is different.

I'm not sure what any of that is suppose to prove...

All I was saying is that a MD & DO are field equals, and a chiropractor is not - they do not receive the same education and training as MDs & DOs (as theirs are THE SAME). It's not even a debate for me because I know it's fact, I've worked in the medical field for a long time.

And I'm not dogging chiropractors either. They can be very beneficial.

I wasn't ever saying they weren't equals in the field, because well, they are. But they don't go through the same medical programs. If they did, there wouldn't be two different programs for them. That's all I was trying to explain, I wasn't trying to prove you right, or me right lol. Lost in translation several posts back I suppose. And a lot of it has to do with words and wording on my end. I lose track of words and their meanings lately and it's hard for me to find the right way to reword it when I can't, if any of that makes sense. It's like.....smurf. What's that word, when you know it but can't think of the name? Smurf it, nevermind.

My son has gone since he was a month old. He has reflux and pyloric spasms. He was on every medication possible. After 4 weeks of seeing a chiropractor, he was doing so much better (75%) and was off all medications (: I should also had that he still goes once a month and his pedi is pissed about it.

I, too, was on strong medicines for my migraines and they didnt work. I went to a chiropractor and after the FIRST adjustment, my 2 week migraine was gone. I still had the pressure but no pain.

I swear by chiropractors now haha
