Actually, I would - my sister had a mohawk when we were little, one that she asked for and she turned out perfectly fine. If my daughter asked for one she would get it.

Why would you allow your child to call his penis his "bad spot"?

You should be having age appropriate discussions of sexuality at home....it's not up to the school to teach your children that kind of thing.

My daughter wanted her hair short because my husband had short hair, we went and cut it off.

It's just hair.....

Not at all. I encourage emotions. I don't encourage pink nails and tutus. And exactly as someone else said, anyone who is against my choice, would you shave your daughters head if she asked?

Again - there is only "gender" in things like clothes, colors and toys because WE put them there! Children, if left to their own devices, do not make these associations! And no, I do not give two smurfs if my son wants to wear a dress and in fact, my daughters coming home outfit is blue and green polka dots so yeah - I don't prescribe my children to those and I don't think it's healthy for other people to,either.

Yes, there is an inherent difference between men and women, but that difference has NOTHING to do with what color we prefer or what toys we liked to play with. That way of thinking is outdated and should be put to rest.

so maybe everyone should turn around and judge you for giving your daughter whatever she wants.
Stupid right?
Leave the woman alone and let her parent how she wants without being criticized.

Congrat-u-smurfing-lations.

Mom of the year award here.

As I said before, why criticize her way of parenting because it isn't like yours? Should she be exactly like you? Do exactly what you do because you are perfect? Just because it doesn't make sense to you or because you don't agree with you...it doesn't mean she is wrong and it doesn't mean that you are a better parent.

If she doesn't want her son wearing pink nail polish, who the smurf are you...or anyone else...to tell her she should let him? Do you allow people tell you what to do with your children?

When it comes to something as silly as hair? Judge away!

That's. great way to get her bullied. Kids don't forget elementary school in high school. I was still bullied in7th grade for touching a dead snake in 2nd grade. I can only imagine the abuse a girl in a Mohawk would get in school..

Or the only way that gender stereotypes will disappear is if people get their head out of their ass and realize that smurf like that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.....?

Ignorance breeds ignorance.

I AM a pretty awesome mom for not shoving gender stereotypical on my kids - thanks for noticing!

It's the principal of the thing - I think it is very very wrong to push those kinds of things on your kids. If you don't want people's opinions on your way of parenting then don't put it on the internet!

My girls (and boys) make their own choices when it comes to their bodies within reason. Again - it's just hair and if she thinks thats the right thing to do with it, then have at it.

Also, I did not TELL her what to do, I was stating how wrong *I* think it is, she's free to screw her kids up however she wants.

YOU think it's wrong. Doesn't mean it IS wrong. See the difference there?

I could find flaws in your ways of parenting, but I'm not going to get into it right now. You parent your kids how you want, she can parent how she wants. She wasn't asking for advice on how to parent, she was asking advice on whether or not to explain to her son now or not. That's not saying "HEY, EVERYONE COME TELL ME I'M WRONG FOR NOT LETTING MY SON WEAR DRESSES AND PANTIES"
