Tomato sensitivity?

posted 21st Jan
So, I've noticed that when both of my kids eat something with ketchup or BBQ sauce, if they get it on their cheeks, their skin is red/pink for a few hours after I clean their face off.
It's not staining, because it doesn't stain their hands or anything like that.
My mom just told me that my grandmother is allergic to tomatoes....Do you think they could be too? Should I stop feeding them ketchup and BBQ? This is the only thing that happens when they eat it.

I would stop feeding them anything tomato related.

That is how my allergy started out, now I have an anaphylactic reaction to them.

Fantastic.

DS has an appointment on the 11th, I guess I'll be talking to the dr about getting them allergy tested.

It felt more itchy and tight....but burning might be another way to articulate it.

I don't think so. I've only noticed it with these two sauces.

Hmm, I only asked because a friend's son was having the same reaction to ketchup and it ended up being a reaction to the garlic powder.

Well, I'll definitely keep that in mind and watch if they get anything with it in it.

It could also be the acid in it. My child was sensitive when she was younger, but loved/loves tomatoes. She's older and doesn't get her face anymore, but I limit her intake because it hurts her poop if she eats a lot.
