Is this allergies or what??

So DD (17 months) has had a hoarse voice for a couple of days. Its gotten a bit worse but its not too bad or anything. Today she developed some pretty red cheeks. She has no fever, but she does have a runny nose. I keep expecting her to develop a fever...but she doesn't. So is it just allergies? She seems like she feels like total crap for it just being allergies.

It could be, or she could just be ill. Even a cold can do that to some children's cheeks. I would suspect allergies though, personally. Does it get worse when she goes outside?

My 14 month old had the same symptoms. She was diagnosed with a viral and fluid in the ear.

I don't think so, its just gotten worse over time. But she really isn't acting sick. She seems happy and chipper as usual, just doesn't look too well.

It wouldn't last this long if it were allergies....most likely a virus or something.

I've got really bad allergies and Leah does as well. She'll be hoarse and runny nose for a week at a time sometimes, and then she gets better. The Dr says it's just allergies and we can give her children's claritin. I never do though. I don't like giving her medicines if she doesn't really need them.
If she doesn't have a fever, and is acting okay, I wouldn't be too concerned.
