Non vax/delay vax Mommies! Advice :)
posted 21st Jan
I want to to take my son to Alaska to visit my Aunt/Uncle and their 7 kids this summer....My son will be 18 months...Idk if thats still to young to go on an airport...we dont vaccinate ...but I guess even if we did vaccinate I would still be worried he would
catch something crazy
Basically my question is would you wait until he is older? How old until you would make a trip like that?
6 hour plane ride tooo ahhh

I'd still go. It's not a foreign country. And no 18 mos is not too young for a plane

My kids have been flying back and forth from Germany to the states since they were infants. Your son will be fine.

Well, I don't think your kids will catch anything crazy flying over Canada to Alaska. lol

Guess I could be a freak about washing our hands
My other worry is if he will go nuts...he hates staying still...car trips suck balls

That makes me feel better
What do you do with an 18 month old in a plane anyway? Just put on a seatbelt?

If you're paying for a seat I'd take his carseat.

I put my kiddos in their car seats up until my daughter was 3.5. By that time, she was more comfy in just a regular seat with a seat belt. It's less of a hassle to not bring the car seats on the plane but I highly recommend that you do not check the car seat in since it will, likely, be damaged. They don't exactly handle checked in items with care.

The worst thing you will probably get is a cold. Planes are germy.

I don't know about where you are or where you're flying to but where I am the flu outbreak is pretty intense and I know parents of little ones are being cautioned and encouraging vaccines (although maybe that doesn't interest you). I'm sure you'll be fine, but definitely make sure you're washing hands and keeping your LO as far away from coughing passengers as possible!

Texas to Alaska ....and I'm not really worried about the flue...we will be visiting over the summer..which I'm sure there will be a pertussis "outbreak"...lucky for us we've all had exposure for that one.
