You might not have to - I ended up turning it down because I couldn't manage the hours in terms of daycare, but I never had to do a lie detector or written test, it probably depends on the county you work for.

it really varies by county.
I have a degree in Soc./criminal justice and it didn't really put me at an advantage.

Which is odd because I was offered the job and I was an HR major and have ZERO experience.

It just really, really depends on where you are and what they are looking for. I was applying in a very small area, so I think that could have something to do with it.

My degree really doesn't have anything to do with law enforcement. It opened the door for the interview, but I still had to do all the testing and screenings.
In the end I decided it was not something I could ever do!

yeah i could see myself saying the same thing if i ever did apply. i just hate being a social worker anyway. its stressful, and pays poop..atleast a dispatcher doesnt have to look at faces of sad children and gets paid better!

I have always worked in the social services. I am glad to be able to SAH right now, I couldn't imagine the added stress of that type of job.

That would kill me, I couldn't do it.I see too much crap as it is, I would probably go home crying every day.
