Really nervous, my baby girl's hear rate dropped

posted 21st Jan
I am 19 almost 20 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. I am on complete bed rest because of a cist in my placenta and bleeding behind the placenta and my daughters heart rate has been 150-155 but today it was 130. Is this normal?? Should I worry??? Cause I am, I'm so nervous :-( any comforting words???

If it was only listened to for a few seconds, she could've been asleep. When I was pregnant with my son, his ranged from 130-150 depending on what he was doing. His also dropped as he grew, so that also might be the case.

Yes it's normal for baby's heartrate to vary that much. Here's the deal about heartrates, when babies are sleeping, their heartrate goes down. Certain times of day, you will notice that the heartrate is lower than others too because they'll be more asleep. When they move and stuff like that, their heartrate will jump up by about 20 bpm. Sometimes a lot more than that. They call that an accell. It's a good thing.

For me, if i got a non stress test done during the morning, the babies heartrates always seemed to be on the lower side. If it was around dinner time, I would notice that their base heartrate (average heartrate) was higher.

Now since you're high risk, you can always call your dr and ask him about this too. That's what they're there for. It's normal to be scared about this, especially with all of that other stuff going on.

For me, my son's base heartrate was always between 130 and 150. There was a time or 2 where it was in the 120's. All normal. What they do worry about is when it drops suddenly and doesn't go back up (normally under 100 bpm). Good luck!

Yup. I'm on monitors 4x a day and my DDs Hb IRS up and down like mountains. Sometimes it can vary between 120 and 190 in a single session.

I was always told between 110 - 160 was perfectly normal and to be expected. It fluctuates a lot I'm told.

I have yet to have the same HR with my fetus

16 week check up my Doctor was checking my daughters heart rate afor a solid minute and it was 152 then she took me to ultrasound and the ultrasound tech monitored my daughters heart rate at 155 and today my 19 week appointment my doctor monitored my daughters heart rate for a solid minute and it was 130 but i felt her moving so it didn't seem to me that was a resting heart rate for her. I don't have anything to monitor my daughters heart rate here at home. i called my local wic office and they told me i can come there once a day to check her heart rate so thats what im going to do. It's just so nerving... Thank you all for the comforting words. maybe she is just in a low stress day and is just relaxed. Praying for the best.

I'm glad they're able to reassure you a bit with the extra monitoring. There's also a normal amount of heartrate slow down as the baby gets more developed. 130 could very well be the new normal for your daughter. My son's heartrates were always around 160ish in the first and early 2nd tri.

( i get a ton of U/S while prego... every 2 weeks or less.. NST starting at 30 weeks on top of the bi-weekly u/s) I remember vividly freaking myself out because there was something that happened during the U/S that was 'questionable' .. like the baby's heartrate momentarily dropped to 60bpm or something like that. (Also normal if it recovers quickly or they move away from the sensor). I would drive myself *insane* until my next appointment.

There would normally be visible signs of heart issues like extra fluid around it or an enlarged heart if the heart has to work harder than normal. The baby wouldn't be growing and developing. Your amniotic fluid levels would be lower too if your placenta wasn't doing what it was suppose to be doing.

Pregnancy can be very hard sometimes because we have such little control over how it goes. We just have to sit there and watch and hope for the best. I'm hoping you have a very long boring couple of months left.   Good luck!

Having more of a scare.... I started getting this headache and felt like it was starting to turn into a migrain, i had to put my sunglasses on and try and take a nap.. I ate to see if that would make me feel better after my nap cause i was still feeling horrid. after I ate i took my blood pressure and it was 102/62 which is low for me, it should of been higher because I just got done eating but it wasn't and I even waited 15 minutes after I ate. my normal blood pressure is 130/74. i called the on call care line for my doctor and they called me back i explained how my daughters heart rate was lower earlier at my appointment and now my blood pressure is low for me after being normal at my appointment. plus the head ache that won't go away even after tylonol and my futtering heart i keep occasionally feeling . she said drink something with caffiene in it and lay on my left side and periodically check my blood pressure that if my systoms get worse to go to the er and have them call my doctor... wth is going on???? i don't get this and my doctor just seems all non gelont about it all.. because of my insurance i have to get assigned and approved an obgyn before i can just get a new one. i don't feel i'm being taken care of, i feel something is wrong. im already high risk not to mention i have a history of pre-eclampsia and post eclampsia and toxemia with past pregnancies.. ergg this is driving e nuts... if my blood pressure doesn't go back to normal by morning i'm gonna say screw my doctor and just go to the e.r.

she could have been sleeping or still at that percise time... but babys generally fluctuate w/ their heart rates like when I had my last NST it ranged in the 130s at times and then shot up to 180s...

Normal before pregnancy or normal during pregnancy? Pre-E isn't a big concern if your bp is lower than normal and during pregnancy, it's normal for your bp to be lower during the beginning of pregnancy. That's why you hear about so many pregnant women fainting. At my lowest during the early 2nd tri, my bp was 85/45. My normal bp not pregnant is about 110/75ish. Pre-E doesn't start until after 20 weeks. Before then, it's not pregnancy induced high bp.

(Fun fact I learned while freaking out in the OR last pregnancy...   I have major white coat hypertension, so i go near a hospital and my bp shoots up.)

After 20 weeks, you can actually go straight to L&D any time you want. I can't tell you how many times I went in and got checked when pregnancy got scary. Sometimes I was freaking out for no reason, but I was so freaked out that I couldn't tell if there was a real problem or if i was just anxious. Sometimes it just wasn't worth waiting hours before I figured out which it was. It kind of sounds like you might need a little reassurance from an actual dr that her heart rate was normal anyway.

Haha that's what would happen to me very time i went to the perinatologist. My Bo was perfect everywhere but there. Like so high they would consider admitting me. I
Could go to the regular ob the next day and it be normal again haha. I didn't even feel different.

Yep me too except I was admitted the first time just in case that was what led to my other issues. I was admitted and within a half an hour it was low/normal. They sent me home without even doing the 24 pee collection. The next and most memorable was when i was getting my cerclage placed last pregnancy. I knew I was dilating early last pregnancy. I mean i've done this before and I just knew the signs. I was only 12 weeks. So knowing that I was already dilated and they were going to be placing a cerclage was more stressful than normal. My bp was 180/110. I got lectured the whole time by the anesthesiologist about how i should take better care of myself ..yadda yadda. As soon as i was taken off of the OR table, my bp dropped to 100/50.

I would like to say it only happens during pregnancy, but it still happens when i go see a regular dr. It just doesn't go as high as when I'm pregnant and quietly freaking out about baby related stuff.
