Husband: food police
posted 21st Jan
My husband refuses to buy with his earned money (I am discouraged but can do what I want if I obtain money) anything that is not certified humane, not organic, or processed. This makes our food options sooo limited and I am pregnant, having cravings, going nuts, and harboring loose change to sneak to get fast food! I want chocolate! If you eat this strict way, can you please direct me to some sweet recipes, chocolate, and things that taste good within his strict beliefs, because beans rice and veggies is not cutting it for me... I end up secretly binging at checkers and McDonald's!

Oh my gosh I think I would chop DHs head off if he said I couldn't have what I wanted. Now I really want Steak n Shake.

I don't think it's right for him to dictate to you how you eat.

What brand of chocolate is humane? He used to care about just meat, but now he realizes that anything containing milk, eggs, etc (like bread ice cream chocolate cheese and most pre packed food) required animal abuse to make it, and I agree it makes no sense to cut out obvious animal products that come from abuse while blindly eating many other things that also stemmed from abuse, just more hidden and further back, but there are cheese eggs milk and bread for us, just no treats and goodies. I wanna make my own but I'm new to all that. Can't eat at people's houses or restraunts or events... Ugh it's hard. Nearest farmers market is an hour away and dh still haven't started hunting like he said he would.

I would tell him that you can each pick 3 meals a week. that's fair.

Well now that I've seen the videos and know the truth I agree (deep down) that we shouldn't give our money to those company's but when a craving grabs me I can ignore it for a while while I eat. I'm just having a harder time adjusting than he is. He doesn't only want to not eat it, but he doesn't want to support the company's with our money, so.. I've seen like 6 documentaries on the horrors of what it takes to make most if the food the stores sell but I still slip up a lot, that's why I need recipes and brands that can satisfy my tastes while staying true to our beliefs ( they are mine too, I tend to be a hypocrite about it when I'm craving)

You poor thing! If my hubby said I couldn't eat what I wanted especially during pregnancy he would have a crazy rednecked girl on his hands lol. I would google recipes though.

Humane and organic don't change the way food tastes. It's just meat killed differently and food grow without chemicals. As far as processed, just pick any real recipe and make it. Only the stupid sites like Kraft foods and such will be using processed foods.

Oh I know but I forgot to mention were on a budget and that stuff is way pricier so that's what makes the choices limited lol I forgot that huge detail. We get beef like once every two weeks! Not enough for me lol
