They actually made the Bush tax cuts permanent. We are paying really low rates right now. 47% or so don't pay income tax you really can't lower them that much more. They can increase the cap, but Republicans don't want to do that.

The bush tax rates were great. Too bad we don't have equal treatment under the law and can have politicians arbitrarily make examples out of the highly productive.

That tax breaks added trillions to the debt. It was causing a revenue short fall that was not there when he became president.

The tax breaks for the middle class had/have huge impact.
The tax breaks for the wealthy don't have a significant impact as there are relatively few wealthy. The tax increase on the wealthy that was just passed is a symbolic one. I think it's equal to 3 "hurricane sandy" bills.

It just annoys me that they won't reduce unnecessary government spending or their own paychecks, but they're so quick to raise taxes and threaten to take away military retirement, etc.

Conservatives do not spend less than liberals. That's a big fat myth.

You think if we had a conservative president that spending would be as high?

Yes I do. Under Bush our spending was out of control.

If you think that, you must not pay attention to current events.
Our current president has plans to increase spending and his opposition wants to reduce spending AND has submitted budget proposals to do so.
Bush was a spender but not in comparison to Obama.

I hope people realize that the more educated a person is, the more likely they have become to be a Dem....

The Pew Research Center released data in August 2012 about GOP gains among working-class white voters that found: "Lower-income and less educated whites also have shifted substantially toward the Republican Party since 2008."

http://www.politifact.com/georgia/statements/2012/nov/05/larry-sabato/education-level-tied-voting-tendencies/

Nearly none of the people *I* know that voted for Obama (or I assume they did by the way they talk as I don't actually outright ask people who they voted for) get no "assistance' unless maybe you are counting Social Security & Medicare. FWIW I know just as many Republicans getting Social Security & Meidcare though, so that's hardly noteworthy.

I voted for Obama because Romney is a wealthy asshat who is so out of touch with the average American he doesn't even know when he is being condescending. I am a SAHM for the past 2 yrs & before that have paid for my own education as well as worked for 20 yrs & left the job market of my own free will making a nice income. My home & cars are paid off. I get no assistance now nor have I ever. I think assuming those that voted for Obama are lazy & live off the system is pretty ignorant & sounds exactly like something Romney would say. I didn't want to vote for Obama BUT I absolutely didn't want Romney in office & that was the largest determiner in NOT voting for Romney. Romney was his own worst enemy - you could have put *almost* anyone next to him & I'd have voted for "the other one".

Romney shot himself in the foot by alienating women and Hispanics alike, and then has the nerve to have a hissy fit when they decide not to vote for him? He was very out of touch with reality.

"Elitist"? Hahahahaha, or wait, you were serious. Talk about missing the whole point. As opposed to saying those who voted for Obama are looking for handout.
