Dentures

Anyone here have dentures?

My teeth are in a terrible state and I've just found out that my insurance won't cover the needed procedures to keep my front teeth

And literally every single tooth has at least one cavity on it. I got one filled today and it was the most painful thing I have ever had done.

I've had root canals and I've had teeth pulled, but this one littler cavity was a bitch-a-roonie-doonie

I cried and cried. Which is unlike me cause I have an insanely high pain tolerance.

Getting all my teeth pulled and getting dentures is looking more and more like an option.

I don't know what to do. I can't afford the procedures, even on a payment plan. If it wasn't a visible tooth, I'd just tell them to pull it. I've lost 3 adult teether already, not including the 4 wisdom teeth I had pulled and the 2 teeth I had pulled for braces when I was a kid.


So does anyone here have experience with dentures?

I do.

I had all of mine removed in August.

What about a partial? Both my sisters have those.

26. Absolutely not. And no.

Even when I was waiting for mine and had no teeth, I still had more self-confidence than when I had my old ones.

I have to go get my kids from school so I'll post some more when I get back.

my DH had his removed in late october or early november.... he had 4 emergency ones pulled and the office was smurffy.... He ws afraid to have the rest removed i had them removed somewhere else.

the first place he was in a lot of pain and they did nothing

the second place he said he felt almost nothing when they pulled them.

What do u need to know about them?

my DH is 29 and he is kinda embaressed because he is so young but they look much better then his old teeth... They still hurt him witch is normal so most of the time he does not wear them he goes in for hard realligin soon so we hope that will help as his gums are not swollwn anymore.

why did it hurt so bad? if it still hurt... they need to give more novacaine.

next time... have them gas you, and give novacaine until it doesn't hurt. also... I HATE dentist appts.. I get seriously anxious... they give me xanax to take the night before so I sleep well, and the day of an appt. (half an hour before my appt)

my SO did both when they pulled the rest of his teeth he said it was heaven compared to his emergency extractions.

This isn't actually always true, especially on fronts.

I only know cause I went through this a little while ago. I got 6 shots and the tooth was too badly damaged and I nearly screamed when they touched part.

my hubby had all his teeth removed and got full dentures about 2 years ago. he had partial dentures for about 5 years before that. he is so much happier now that he has the dentures. the partials were a pain in the ass.

  They have the habit of giving the novacaine and just diving straight in, when they're supposed to let it take action for at least 15 minutes. It doesn't work right away.

There's not any kind of nerve block they can do??
