The only thing they can do is jab the needle into the actual tooth. That is an awful feeling.

I had all 32 removed. I still had all my teeth but none of them could be saved. I've had rootcanal/implant done before but my mouth doesn't put up with them.

I was in pain for a good 5-7 days that required me to basically live drugged up on Tylenol with Codeine. Swelling was probably the worst part of the after care. I lived on ibuprofen for about 2 weeks before I finally noticed I was semi normal. I actually don't wear my dentures when I'm home usually. I was able to eat normal foods by 3 or 4 weeks. Up to that point, I was on mushy food. I lost 30lbs because of how limited my diet was.

The actual procedure wasn't bad once they got past the novocaine. All total, I think I had around 50 shots (perhaps not exactly that many but I lost count at 20  )injected into my mouth along with nitrous oxide. I had a massive panic attack when they started to put the needles in the roof of my mouth so they upped to gas and I ended up falling asleep.

Oh I hate cloth in my mouth too so putting the gauze in there kept making me gag. Thankfully I'm not a heavy bleeder so I didn't need to keep it in the full hour.

And they usually give you a prophylactic prescription of antibiotics which can cause one hell of a yeast infection so if you go that route, make sure to have some monistat on hand.

I just don't know what the best option for me is. It's all so hard to choose

If there's a better option than going through it, I'd do it.

I had to go through with it but it's not something I would choose to do if I had other options.

Do you have a Dental Village there? They have pretty cheap payment plans!!

And you can't even tell they aren't my real teeth. The dentist I saw for my dentures makes them himself so they are truly custom built.

It's going through and fixing over 30 cavities, extracting at least one more tooth, and doing the root canal on the front tooth that insurance just denied.

I'm going to be needing a smurf ton of work. And I've already lost the 3 adult molars.

I'm not in pain and I'm not horribly ashamed of my smile.

Smoking a pack a day for 14 years and drinking 2 liters of Soda a day for even longer than that messed my mouth up so much

My SO had only 20 something removed... He did have to keep the gauze in because we had an hour ride home...

He could only eat soft foods as well for like 2 weeks tho... He already had infections so the antibotics helped get rid of them.

He still has some pain with his bottom dentures witch they said can last a year, he wears them rarely.

it was not an option for my SO his teeth were falling apart and medicaid does not pay to fix them so it was our only option. We paid 32.50 that was it.

I hear the issue with the bottom is pretty common but I don't have that if I use adhesive.
