If a student could be in the room to watch your labor/birth of your child? I was never asked, but probably would have said no. Now that I'm a nursing student, I see how important it is for students to see labors/births, in real life! I just wanted to see how many people have/would let a student in to witness the birth of their child... If you didn't/wouldn't, why? Would it matter if the student was a male? Some of my male classmates still have not seen a birth because the moms won't allow any males to watch them...
I feel so bad for them. They're always like, "It's not like I'm interested in seeing their vag! I sincerely want to see the miracle of a birth, so I know what I can expect when I'm actually doing this as a job!"
If you have/would, thank you SOOOO much! It's VERY helpful to us! It's SO much more educational than the school "skills lab" where we witness births on plastic dummies, lol... I had a VERY generous woman let me watch the birth of her twins on Friday and it was AMAZING!! They were both head down and the placentas were delivered last. The twins were only 6 minutes apart and it was just a fantastic, educational experience that I couldn't have gotten anywhere else if she hadn't said yes!

I was asked and I gladly let them. They even asked if students could care for my DD (with supervision) after birth.
They have to learn some how, and I would want someone to give me that opportunity too.

both times!
I let everyone who wanted in, in
I didn't give a smurf lol
with my son I had... 4?
with my daughter I had almost 10... they were scared of the lady in the next room, apparently she was a very angry and scary birther hahah
I dont mind it one bit, I mean they need to experience it and they aren't bothering me. Plus some of them made me laugh.

I didn't have a resident but there was a nurse-in-training doing her clinicals on the OB floor when I had my daughter. I had no issues having her watch me give birth or being a guinea pig for her to practice her skills on...even if they were more painful than they would have been if I had had my actual nurse doing them.
Before I left, she thanked me. I guess I was the only one fully willing to let her practice on me.

I was always against the idea but when I was asked on d-day, I didn't give a smurf if the Pope waltzed in lol. So yeah, a male student saw me in all my naked glory

Yes. But I had a c-section.
I also had a student come in while I was breast feeding to watch while the lactation consultant helped position him.

I was asked and said yes. I was also going to school for nursing.

I seemed to always have a student lol. During my first appt I had like 3 in the room during my pap. Then in labor. Then during my post partum care. Then for my sons first appt. The way I look at it is they need to learn, and I'm already exposed what's another person gonna matter.
ETA: they were all males except for my post partum care.

I wasn't asked, but they were there (i wasn't in any condition to ask anyway). I didnt care one bit, but I wouldn't want them to be the one catching the baby.

Well I was 16 when I had my first and I didn't even like the idea of the NURSES being in there, I was hoping and praying my ob could be a miracle worker and just deliver this baby entirely on his own lol. They didn't ask if just a student could be in there, they said a small class (5 or so people). I declined respectfully, and honestly think I will do the same this time if asked again. Just a little uncomfortable.

I never was. With any of my older girls I would've said yes, no hesitation. My second was delivered by a paramedic and emt, so they got a pretty cool experience.
With my youngest, we were prepared to decline because we wanted it to be just my husband and myself. But... A good friend ( who happens to be a nursing student) and my husband ended up delivering her haha

I had student nurses present for both of my children's births. They were both female and it wasn't a big deal, they were there to learn. They were both really awesome and attentive.

Not a chance in hell if it were a male. Female maybe. Personal comfort levels... just being honest.

I wouldn't mind. I honestly didn't care who was in there as long as the baby came out.
