Most sociologists? If that is true, and I'm not sure it is, they don't get to warp a definition.
"Institutionalized racism" involves power, but not not "racism."

Racism is also different in each culture. Depends on the population, its history, the more "powerful" race etc. In some cultures it isn't white people, but in America it is.

This is true.

I'm surprised that not many people on here have heard it called "n---er" day. It's very common among the white people in my area. I grew up hearing it referred to as such.
But then again I do live in White Trash-ville in the middle of Dixie county USA. We even have KKK still around and it's well known where they hang out.

It definitely depends on where you live, not necessarily just living in a predominantly white area.

I'd say it's about equal in the number of white and black people who live here. It's mainly the older generations and the white power trash who refer to it as such. The newer generations are not very racist at all for the most part and we all get along pretty well.
So hopefully my area won't be so racist for much longer.

Oh it was my #1 goal up until I was 20. Then life happened and all my money went down the drain.   I'm just now getting to where I can actually pay bills.

But you are young. You will get it together and get to a better place both literally and figuratively.

I live about 30 miles from Canton. The KKK was actually on the news tonight. There were flyers to solicit them in some local neighborhood. That's really disgusting..

I am from Ohio and I love living here in GA. I love the southern hospitality. Some people think it is redneck and that might be true for some towns, but there are also parts that are hood as hell. I think its an even mix actually..

I got lost out near Macon once with my newborn baby. That town was straight up hood. I parked and a bunch of dudes actually came to my window and started knocking on it wanting me to get out. I was like oh hell no and sped off. I didn't stop till I was long gone.

The problem with racism is that many people have differing ideas of what racism is. Some say only white people can be racist (Or the race in power), some say any race can be racist. Both have good points as to their ideas of what racism is. When one group is given something that the other group can't have (for example there's a black history month but not a white history month) then in this example some white people may see this is as racist towards white people. Some other white people may feel that it isn't. Neither are wrong to feel the way they feel. racism was (and in many areas, still is) a huge issue. A lot of it has been overcome and we should take pride in the progress made. White people can celebrate the progress made in overcoming racism too. It's not just something for black people alone to celebrate.
I Re-read this through and I am really crap at getting my point across but basically black history is something everyone should learn about and learn from to move forward. It's not about being on the white 'side or the black 'side' it's about being human.
