Quoting BoogsMaMa:" Extremely TRUE! A lot of what we learned, I have learned some contradictions too especially in college."

For sure. It's kind of interesting... especially something glaring like the Pyramid thing. Like... I remember making a project in middle school and had little Lego people carrying a Lego mummy into the Pyramid. hahaha

Quoting S U Z I E:" Yeah, I graduated looooooong before that!   My oldest is 18! "

I probably have you beat! I'm older than Hell and graduated in 1983.
We spent a lot of time on those topics i listed.

In all fairness to those who develp the history teaching plans, it IS difficult to know what to cover and how deep to cover it. Each decade there is more and more to cover. Students should get A LOT of info about the middle east, Sept. 11 and the subsequent wars BUT, that has to be done at the expense of other classroom focus.

Quoting loser mom:"    Can't say I've heard anyone refer to it as THAT. Although I hear, "Why do black people get their own day?" all the time.  "

Uhhh yeah people are stupid. One, white people day is every smurfing day of the year, and two MLK Day isn't just about black people. It's about all of humanity. He was also a very important part of women's rights as well.

Quoting Blythe.:" you should say that to their face"

I do.
Unlike how all these ignorant racist pieces of trash love to throw the n word around but most wouldn't dare say it to a black person's face.

Oh I do. I don't tolerate racism. My sister is mixed, my bf is black...I will not put up with it.

Ive heard it if i venture over to the Kansas side. Definitely not here in the inner city lol. I was one of the few who went to historically black elementary, middle and high school and Black History was a required class that I actually liked. I love learning my history.

Uh no, calling people out doesn't make me ignorant. Wanna go online and see how many people are calling it that? A lot.

I don't associate with anyone like this. I've just seen it floating around the internet a lot today, especially on twitter.

None of these people are my friends. I've just seen it a lot on the internet today and felt like making a statement.

Quoting BoogsMaMa:" What school did you go to? We learned about every bit of history, african, euro, american which includes black history as well."

But it's told from a very WHITE viewpoint. Kind of like women's history. Told from a man's viewpoint. Which makes it not nearly as accurate as if it were told from someone who experienced it.

I went to school in Kansas City for two years but it was a very poor school and I was 2 years ahead of everyone in my grade. I graduated from Odessa though.
