Metformin while pregnant?

posted 21st Jan
Any mamas out there been taking metformin during early pregnancy?
Can, taking it during early pregnancy give you an upset tummy?

I'm currently 4 days late for AF, and in the last few days I've noticed that I'm getting a really upset tummy like I did when I first started metformin. Just wondering if maybe it's the metformin reacting weird if I am pregnant. I haven't been this sick since I started it almost a year ago!

You should not be using it when breast feeding or pregnant. Please POAS.if you are pregnant discontinue use.

Sorry I read that as melatonin because its late   from what I've read you can take metformin when pregnant.

You can take Metfirmin while pregnant. Some doctors will have you stay on it your entire pregnancy. Others will take you off after a few weeks... it depends on the doctor.

Metformin is known to help reduce the chance of a miscarriage.

I definitely had an upset tummy while taking it before I realized I was pregnant. I discontinued it as soon as I found out though... my dr didn't want me taking it because I don't have a history of gestational diabetes and I'm only borderline when not pregnant... super weird. lol But for some reason I tend to feel better when I'm pregnant. Hope you get everything straightened out soon!!

Yea i know that.
Im just wondering if maybe pregnancy could make me sick while on it. Its the only thing that could be different. I use to be this sick when i was on 1500mg of fast release, but havent had any problems being put on 500mg of slow release. I would like to know whats causing it because im over being afraid to eat because ill get sick!

I took a test on saturday [2 days ago] and it was bfn, so im waiting a few more days to test again.
Pregnancy would answer things, but i dunno if my androgen levels were low enough to conceive. Blah, all so confusing!
