No problems.
I can get quite defensive when I feel like people think I'm in inherent danger or something of that nature. If I felt like myself or my children were in danger by continuing to live with him, I wouldn't stay.

I absolutely HATE it when my mom comes over. She has a concealed carry permit and carries a gun in her purse.   I hate her bringing that into my home. She always puts her purse in my room so the kids can't get the gun. Why not just put the damn gun in the car then? Sheesh. I don't invite them over much anymore for other reasons.

Dh's uncle killed himself because of PTSD. He was a Vietnam War vet and was going to the state run mental health facility as well as the VA for help but it did him no good.   I never met the guy but it makes DH sad that his mom and uncle miss out on our kids.

I dont think their should be a "list." In this country, not too long ago, we used to have about 500k inpatient, psych beds for people that were thought to need hospitalization. we currently have fewer than 50k. Clearly, the push to get people in the community has gone too far. Something must change so that families of the struggling can get help for their loved ones AND individuals without loved ones can get access to the care they need to help them lead a more healthy life or at the very least, not be dangerous to the public.

My x-bf's 16 yr old son hanged himself in his room. His mom found him along with siblings. Nobody should have to see that either.

Maybe that would make sense if everybody who ever shot anyone to death was mentally ill on a level where they could be locked up for it.

You may be gone, but I'll just say this:
98% of deaths from guns happen by handguns and the non-controversial guns. The deaths are from a variety of motivations including mental illness but mostly not from mental illness.
Mass shootings, with rare exceptions, are done by people who are mentally ill.
The knee-jerk reaction to this terrible tragedy is to do what seems logical (remove the specific weapon) but is illogical as the remedy is very complex, lengthy to implement and doesnt have an "on/off switch" like ban.

I think the psych medications are a problem on top of the already existing problem.

These medications are dangerous.

Did you call an amendment to our constitution stupid? You also seem to imply that any special interest group that is formed by citizens (in this case NRA) is somehow too influential in politics if their interest is in the preservation of an already existing amendment. It's not like they are trying to rewrite anything, just follow what is there. If we aren't going to actually follow the constitution, then what is the foundation for the way our country operates?
