Ever have tonsillitis?

Has anyone ever had tonsillitis? What's the symptoms? What's the treatment? Let's say you do have it, how long did your doctor say you had to wait to have any physical or sexual contact with your SO? TIA!

You can usually see that they are swollen, red, and usually have white spots on them. I get it all the time. I've never was told not to have physical or sexual contact. My throat hurts like a bitch anyway so BJ's are out of the question lol And usually I'm sick as a dog. Mine are pretty bad right now. I've been on so many antibiotics that I'm getting immune to them. I'm looking into a specialist to get them taken out.

I've gotten it a lot. You can see that they are swollen and red on the inside of your mouth and sometimes on the outside they will appear swollen and be tender. I was never told I couldn't have sexual contact with anyone... Its not an STD lol. But the discomfort is why I avoided giving blow jobs while having it.

I've been on antibiotics for it several times. Hell when I was pregnant the doctor said he couldn't wait for me to pop my son out so he could remove them lol. Needless to say.. I haven't visited that doctor since having DS. I don't wanna get them removed(surgery fears)

Well my SO thinks he has it. He had it really bad last year supposedly and he said last time his doctor said no physical or sexual contact for 2-3 weeks. Wtf?

Because he has an infection in his tonsils?
Tonsillitis can be caused by gonorrhea and chlamydia. That's the only reason I would think a doctor would say that.. But if he doesn't have either that makes no sense at all.

Most of the time it's bacterial. Unless they thought it was caused by something that's sexual transmitted, then there shouldn't be a problem. I know there's a few STD's that can hang out in your throat like gonorrhea and HPV but they'd have to actually test for them. I guess the bacteria can transfer to you if he goes down on you and cause some kind of bacterial infection.

ETA: A few months back, I started to get pain on my one tonsil. I looked at it and there was a sore on it. It was small. My OB tested for whatever STD's can form in the throat but they came up negative. On Wednesday I went to my doctor for it because it's pretty big, white and hard. I also have a horrible ear infection. Turned out it's a tonsil stone and it caused an ear infection.
