That skin is not 'extra', it's the skin all boys are born with. It is there for a reason, it's not a birth defect.

Educate yourself and fight for your son's right to his whole penis.
America is the only country in the developed world that routinely cuts its baby boys for no medical or religious reason. No major medical organization in the world recommends routine infant circumcision. Other countries are baffled by Americans' obsession with amputating healthy skin from infants. As for it being cleaner, reducing infections, etc, America has some of the highest STD and UTI rates in the developed world while also having the highest circumcision rate. The argument of he'll have to have it done later is invalidated by European data, where less than 1% of intact men later need to be circumcised.
Complication rates are high, ranging from adhesions, phimosis, infections to hemorrhage and death. It is horribly painful, even when performed with anesthetic, and studies have shown that circumcised infants develop neurologically differently than their intact peers, with higher cortisol levels and lower pain tolerance to other painful stimuli. Circumcision can also cause breastfeeding problems.
As has been mentioned, once you cut him, he cannot be uncut.

Yes I am. I have read up plenty on the subject and that's why my son was done.

Yeah... I know... Like I said, I've done a bit of research on it, and it just seems horrible...

My mom even told me that if she had my brother all over again, she would have pushed harder for him to not be circumcised.

More babies die from circs than SIDS.

You obviously have selective reading as there are new studies that state that uncirced babies are not more inclined to infections etc.

IMO, I would never circumsice my son. If I had a boy, I feel that nature intended for penis' to look the way they look, & I see no good reason in doing so. Im glad DH is not circumsice!!

Were you in the room with him, or is that what the nurse told you?
Some babies slip into a semi-coma state of shock and withdrawal instead of crying. Nurses are trained to call it sleep. Also many hospitals that circumcise have a policy of not bringing baby back until they've calmed him down, and the nurses are forced to lie and say oh he was fine.
Also your earlier assertion that it doesn't traumatize the infant is patently false.

Not trying to argue.
Nothing I have said was opinion, but fact backed by evidence. I assumed you've been misinformed and might be interested in what the facts say.
But what's done is done and trying to make you feel guilty or whatever isn't helpful. I apologize.
It's just always my hope that someone who has had a child circumcised in the past will learn something new and choose differently in the future.

And I could just as easily pull up legitimate facts on pro circumcision but I'm not wasting my time for someone like you.
You are not the one that asked.

When my son was circumcised, a nurse did NOT stick her fingers in his mouth so he wouldn't scream. I have heard many things, but never that one.

Oh, whatever... That's ridiculous! MOST babies don't even respond to getting circ'd, they sleep right through it.. My son did.
