re: SO and I disagreeing on circumcision

I know I'm probably going to have a couple comments disagreeing with this but I looked at it this way: would I circ a girl? Nope so why would I do it to my boy?

I have always thought that it should be left up to the dad. my hubby is, so my boys are. I don't want them feeling out of place when they realize they are different than this man they idolize... but it is still something you need to talk to him about if you really have reservations about it...

This is something my family and my husband's family has been arguing about and it's actually really funny because they are both for it, just for different reasons. My family isn't super religious but they believe it should be done for "health" reasons. My oldest sister's only son isn't but has issues with infections so she intends to have it done soon but the poor thing is 8! On the other hand my husband's family is super religious and believe it is just something you are supposed to do. However, my husband and I agree not to have him circ'd so listening to our families fight over what they want for our son is a little amusing.
There are so many "pros and cons" that both families have listed but you have to listen to what YOU feel is right for YOUR son. It's important to have your SO on your side but YOU are the only one who has known your son thus far and as a mother, you know whats best for him.

i always said if we have a boy i let my SO decide that. Its easier to get it done young then for him to decide to do it and get it done as a teen or older. My SO is circumcised and most of the men in our familys are. I personally like it circ....i dont like all the xtra skin. I guess i think about the furture and what do most girls want. idk for real. i dont know if we would or wouldnt do it.

I kno it is painful to an infant. All I'm saying is infants will never remember that where as a child/adult will. It will traumatize a child/adult and not an infant that doesn't kno.whats going on. I would never leave that extra skin on and pose infection on my child.

do you know how its done? they strap them down and snip, while a nurse sticks her fingers down their mouth so they dont scream

My son slept thru it and did.not cry

My husband was ADAMANT about getting it done.
We just had our son yesterday and he's not being circumcised. I made sure to make DH realize how important the issue was to me and he let me handle it.
